After about two years, Apple has finally launched the third generation of its ‘cheap’ iPhone, namely the iPhone SE 2022. From the outside, at first glance this new version offers almost no changes from the iPhone SE released in 2020. In fact, there are some quite interesting improvements.
Well , for more details, here we present 5 things that distinguish the iPhone SE 2022 from the previous generation:
1. Ceramic Shield
Yes, in terms of design, the latest iPhone SE is very similar to its older brother. In front of the user will still find a screen with large bezels at the top and bottom that houses Touch ID. Both smartphones also have IP67 certification, which means they are water and dust resistant.
But what distinguishes the third generation iPhone SE from the second generation is the Ceramic Shield which is touted as one of the strongest glass in the mobile industry. Please note, the same glass is also installed on the iPhone 13 series.
2. Chipset Apple A15 Bionic
The most significant difference is in the chipset. If the iPhone SE 2020 relies on the Apple A13 Bionic, the latest version is equipped with the Apple A15 Bionic. That means, users can expect the iPhone SE 2022 to be able to provide more or less similar performance to the iPhone 13 series.
When it comes to storage, these two different generations of phones both offer 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB options.
3. 5G support
iPhone SE 2022 already supports 5G networks thanks to the A15 Bionic chipset. While the second generation iPhone SE released in 2020 is still limited to 4G only.
4. Longer battery life
Apple did not explain in detail how much the battery capacity of the iPhone SE 2022 is. However, the company claims that its endurance is capable of reaching 15 hours or longer than the iPhone SE 2022 which is promised to be lit for up to 13 hours on a single charge.
In addition to supporting wired charging, both the iPhone SE 2022 and iPhone SE 2020 both support wireless charging. Even so, both are not yet compatible with the MagSafe feature.
5. Camera features
The camera configuration between the two is indeed the same, namely a single 12 MP sensor on the back and a 7 MP sensor on the front for selfies. Interestingly, the iPhone SE 2022 is now equipped with features such as Smart HDR 4, Deep Fusion and Photographic Styles.
The former feature was previously present in the iPhone 13 series. Smart HDR 4 relies on intelligent segmentation to apply different adjustments to color, contrast, and noise between the subject and the background. As a result, the face can be properly exposed even when shooting is done in conditions that challenge the direction of the light.
While Deep Fusion uses machine learning technology for pixel-by-pixel processing, optimizing texture, detail and noise in every part of the photo. Lastly, Photographic Styles, allow users to bring their photo preferences to each image, while still benefiting from Apple’s proprietary multiframe image processing technology.
Well , those are 5 things that distinguish the iPhone SE 2022 from its predecessor, the iPhone SE 2020. For those who are interested, the iPhone SE (2022) is sold at a starting price of US$420.
