7Artisans officially presents the 18mm F/6.3 II Cap Lens. This second-generation 18mm F/6.3 lens comes with a design update and is compatible with more cameras.

Features 7Artisans 18mm F/6.3 II Cap Lens

Previously, the first generation 18mm F/6.3 was only available for Canon EOS M and mirrorless cameras with MFT (Micro Four Third) sensors. Well, in the second generation with an updated design will be available for Mount Fuji X, Sony E and Nikon Z.

So what’s the difference between Cap Lens and Pancake Lens? The main difference is in the design and design of the optics. Both are equally concise. However, Cap Lens is thinner and lighter.

As the name implies, the Cap Lens design is inspired by the body cap or camera cap body. The body is only as thick as a biscuit in general and weighs only 58 grams. With a very thin body design Cap Lens has several limitations. Among them, you cannot install any lens filters and do not support aperture settings. That is, when attached to the camera body you have to be satisfied with the lens aperture which is at F/6.3. In addition, the focus control is also manual only with a focus distance of about 0.3m.

For the optical design of this lens, there are six elements in five groups. When attached to a camera with an APS-C sensor, the focal length will be equivalent to a 27mm lens. Ideal for landscape and street photography.
