A Closer Look at the Design of OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G Glazed Green

OPPO made several breakthroughs that managed to make this device look much more stunning than its predecessor. In fact, the sensation of an OPPO flagship phone is much more pronounced both in terms of design and materials used. For more details, here are our first impressions of the Reno8 Pro 5G.

    High temperature forged Gorilla Glass

The Reno Pro 5G features a sleek unibody design that OPPO claims has been refined more than 100 times, and underwent more than 400 days of R&D. OPPO said that this product carries a Golden Ratio of 0.618:1 , which in addition to adding aesthetics will also provide comfort for users when holding and interacting with cellphones.

If you look at the back cover, the camera area is made to blend with the body and has a very smooth curve transition. It should be underlined, this back panel material is coated with glass or rather Gorilla Glass . Then, how can glass have such an indentation?

So, OPPO forges Gorilla Glass at a high temperature of up to 800 degrees Celsius , then applies a pressure of 120 kilograms to form an indentation. Because the temperature exceeds the temperature of the glass forging process in general, the curve can be made smoother.

The Gorilla Glass on the Reno8 Pro 5G is formed using a mold, and the texture that is on the surface of the print will be transferred to the glass. OPPO ensures that the glass prints feel smooth and avoid uneven surfaces. The trick, the mold will go through a three-step polishing process and eight nanometer-scale polishing steps.

The results can be seen, the Reno8 Pro 5G has a Gorilla Glass back cover with a neat curve on the camera. The camera module design with a single glass like this was first applied to the Find X3 Pro series.

The appearance of the camera module is also quite unique. According to OPPO, the design was inspired by the shape of a vintage film camera , and at the same time it is OPPO’s way of asserting the capabilities of the camera on its latest mobile phone.

    The thinnest Reno series

The OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G is a device that is quite slim and comfortable to hold. Its dimensions are 161.2 x 74.2mm with a thickness of only 7.34mm (the thinnest in the history of the Reno Series). While the weight is 183 grams, it is relatively light for the size of the device with metal and glass materials.

Around the body there are several lines of antennas to ensure this phone is able to pick up signals better. At the bottom there is a USB Type-C port, speaker and mic holes, and a SIM tray. Yes, there is no 3.5mm audio jack port.

Regarding color availability, the Reno8 Pro 5G is available in  Glazed Green options as we featured in this article, and Glazed Black. Both of them offer a modern, minimalist touch, and have their own premium impression even without the effect of color gradation when exposed to light.

    Super thin screen bezel

Turning to the front, we are quite amazed to see the bezel around the screen that can appear so thin. What’s interesting, the edges of the screen are still made flat alias flat. At the bottom, the bezel thickness is only 2.37mm, while the bezel on the side of the screen is only 1.48mm. Thanks to this super thin bezel, the Reno8 Pro 5G is able to achieve a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4 percent !

The screen size is 6.7 inches, but unfortunately OPPO doesn’t want to reveal what panel it uses, what resolution, and what the refresh rate is. To be sure, at first glance this screen looks very spoil the eye.

First Reno Series with MariSilicon X . NPU

As explained in the previous article , the Reno8 Pro 5G is the first Reno series smartphone to adopt the MariSilicon X NPU . For those who don’t know, OPPO’s NPU which is also present in the Find X5 Pro series was added specifically to provide increased smartphone imaging capabilities for both photos and videos.

OPPO Indonesia promises that the Reno8 Pro 5G will launch in August 2022. Unfortunately, there has been no official date announcement or leak regarding the price. More information about this phone will be revealed on 11 August. Let’s just wait!
