Eco-Friendly Bicycle Table, Convert Kinetic Energy to Electricity for Charging
CES 2023 isn’t just about mainstream devices like laptops. Acer is showing off a product that can be considered quite unique, because it is a combination of a table and a bicycle. Apart from being environmentally friendly, this device called the Acer eKinekt BD 3 can also convert kinetic energy into electricity.
Features of the Acer eKinekt BD 3
In a press release received by alomaki, Monday (9/1), Acer explained that the eKinekt BD 3 has a stationary bicycle that allows users to exercise while working. So users can put their laptops on the table for work, while pedaling their bicycles, so that they remain productive and healthy at the same time.
What’s interesting, this tool is not only for health, but also able to convert the kinetic energy generated when the user pedals a bicycle, into electrical energy. Later this electricity can be used to charge other devices via the USB Type-A and Type-C ports.
According to Acer, one hour of constant cycling with the eKinekt BD 3 at 60 RPM can produce 75 Watts of power. This electrical energy is ideal for charging laptops and smartphones. The LED charging indicator on the rear of the bicycle lights up when the user pedals, indicating that kinetic energy is being converted.
The Acer eKinekt BD 3 has two modes, namely Work Mode and Sport Mode. In Work Mode, the tabletop moves closer to the seat to let the rider sit in the correct position for typing and pedaling. As for Sport Mode, the table top is further forward, providing more room to lean back, similar to the position on a standard bicycle or exercise bike, for added legroom and increased pedaling power.

As additional information, the eKinekt BD 3 is a device that promotes the concept of being environmentally friendly. The casing is made of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic.
