For those who often dwell in the realm of music production, the name AKAI Professional certainly sounds familiar to the ear. The brand, which is popular for its MIDI Controller range, has just launched the AKAI MPK Mini Play Mk3, a compact keyboard that emphasizes a portable design and extra battery life.

Features of AKAI MPK Mini Play Mk3

According to AKAI, inspiration for creating music can come anytime and anywhere. Compared to the previous generation, the MPK Mini Play Mk3 offers a longer battery life of more than 14 hours. This device relies on 4 batteries, or more than its predecessor which uses a 3 battery system.

The AKAI MPK Mini Play Mk3 is equipped with an upgraded Gen 2 keybed and has a more accurate response. AKAI claims, compared to its older sibling, this keybed will be more comfortable to play for hours. Interestingly, users are presented with 8 MPC drum pads that offer a more optimal sensation and response.

The default speaker has also been improved. In addition to being larger in size, these speakers can deliver more powerful volume and better low-end output. A quite useful alternative when you don’t want to wear headphones. Fun again, AKAI has provided more than 128 drum and keyboard sounds built-in (onboard).

For those who work in the field of music making, the MPK Mini Play Mk3 can certainly be a practical MIDI controller. This device can be connected to a laptop in a plug and play way (via a USB cable), and is automatically detected by the user’s favorite DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software. The MPK Mini Play Mk3 also has 4 encoder knobs for versatile controls such as pans or automation for precise editing.

Price AKAI MPK Mini Play Mk3

For those who are interested, the AKAI MPK Mini Play Mk3 is priced at US$150. Slightly more expensive than the previous generation, but still tempting considering there are many upgrades provided. Unfortunately, there is no information on when the AKAI MPK Mini Play Mk3 will be available in the Indonesian market.
