AMD announced the presence of the latest generation for its desktop graphics cards, namely the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT. Both are flagship lines and certainly promise super fast performance.
Features of the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT
According to AMD, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT are both based on the latest RDNA 3 architecture, and are the world’s first chiplet-based GPUs. The chiplet design allows for two different chip components, namely Graphics Compute Die (GCD) which carries 5nm fabrication and Memory Cache Die (MCD) with 6nm fabrication.
Thanks to the chiplet-based design, AMD was able to use a different manufacturing process for each component part. GCD is supported by RDNA 3 compute units, new display engine, and dual media engine. GCD functions to process graphics, while MCD takes care of all things related to memory.

Regarding specifications, the RX 7900 XTX has 96 RDNA 3 compute units with a game clock of 2.3GHz, 24GB of GDDR6 memory 384-bit 96MB Infinity Cache, and 355W board power. While the RX 7900 XT carries 84 RDNA 3 compute units with a game clock of 2GHz, 20 GB of 320-bit GDDR6 memory, and 300W of board power.
Both of these graphics cards already support DisplayPort 2.1. The performance of the RX 7900 XTX itself is promised to be 1.7 times faster than the RX 6950 XT at 4K resolution, and up to 1.6 times faster for Ray Tracing at 4K resolution.
Price and availability
The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT are scheduled to be available on the market starting December 13, 2022. The RX 7900 XTX retails for US$999, while the RX 7900 XT costs US$899.
