AMD announced the presence of its newest graphics card intended for workstations, namely the AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series. Consisting of the Radeon PRO W7800 and W7900, both are professional-grade graphics cards and are suitable for needs such as design and creative applications.

Features of AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series

The Radeon PRO W7800 and W7900 are built on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture, which is claimed to be able to provide a significant increase in performance compared to its predecessor. In addition, both of them are also the first workstation GPUs to carry the AMD Advanced Chiplet Design, so that apart from being faster, they are also more efficient.

This graphics card is designed for professionals to create and work with high polygon count models, achieve good image fidelity and color accuracy, and run graphics-based and compute-based applications simultaneously without interrupting workflow.

Even more interesting, the Radeon PRO W7000 Series is the first workstation GPU to support the AMD Radiance Display Engine with DisplayPort 2.1. For your information, DisplatPort 2.1 promises data transfer 3x faster than DisplayPort 1.4, to enable higher resolution and richer colors.

The Radeon PRO W7900 is designed for extreme workloads, with 61 TFLOPS (Peak Single Precision) and 48 GB of GDDR6 memory. Meanwhile the Radeon PRO W7800 offers 45 TFLOPS (Peak Single Precision) with 32 GB of GDDR6 memory. Both are also supported by AI Acceleration which is claimed to have 2 times better performance than the previous generation, and second generation Raytracing technology.

“The AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series gives professionals the power to tackle larger projects, render faster and create more complex models loaded with more pixels, more polygons, and more textures,” said Scott Herkelman, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Graphics Business Unit AMD.

Price for AMD Radeon PRO W7000 Series

The AMD Radeon W7900 will retail for US$3999, while the Radeon PRO W7800 costs US$2499. These two graphics cards are scheduled to hit the market in mid-2023.
