The new ASUS ROG gaming laptop lineup officially made its first debut at CES 2023. In the Strix line, the champions are ROG Strix SCAR 16 (G634) and SCAR 18 (G834).

Features of ROG Strix SCAR 16 (G634) and SCAR 18 (G834)

ROG Strix SCAR 16 (G634) and SCAR 18 (G834) still maintain a design similar to the previous generation . On this premium gaming laptop, gamers can find customizable lightbars, chicklet-style keyboards with AURA SYNC RGB features and adjustable armor caps according to gamers’ needs.

The most interesting thing about this gaming laptop is the performance and the screen. The reason is, in addition to very fast performance, they both carry 16-inch and 18-inch Mini-LED panel options with QHD+ resolution of 22560 x 1600 pixels with a refresh rate of 240 Hz. This panel supports 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and offers a very high screen brightness level of up to 1100 nits. Not only that, this screen also supports the G-SYNC feature and the color accuracy has pocketed the PANTONE Validated certification.

The screen area is also wider. This is because the aspect ratio of both screens is 16:10. Meanwhile, the screen frame looks thin with a screen panel to body ratio reaching 89 percent.

Then how is the performance? Occupying the highest caste in the line of ROG gaming laptops, both are supported by an Intel Core i9-13980HX processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card with a TGP of up to 175W. Supported RAM can be up to 64GB and available PCIe 4.0 SSD storage space with a capacity of up to 4TB configured for RAID 0.

To optimize graphical performance, the MUX Switches feature is also still available. In addition, to maintain the very fast performance of the processor and graphics card, ASUS also updated the cooling system to include a full-sized heat sink and three cooling fans.

Other features of ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 are HDMI 2.1 port, Thunderbolt 4, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and a battery that supports 100W fast charging feature.

Price and availability

Unfortunately, even though it has been officially announced, ASUS has not divulged more details on prices and when these two laptops will be available on the market.
