This year, ASUS is focusing on presenting a line of laptops with OLED screens. Interestingly, the series of laptops with OLED screens from ASUS can be found in almost all segments. The ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED is one of them. Curious about the performance of this laptop with the cheapest OLED screen from ASUS? Check out his review as follows.
ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED Design
The ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED is in the 2-in-1 Detachable PC category. This means that the display panel can be detached from the keyboard for standalone use as a tablet.
In the sales package, this device includes a keyboard and a foldable cover stand. So, it will be comfortable to use in various positions and orientations according to user needs.
The cover stand and keyboard carry a magnetic style. It is very practical. However, the magnetic system on the cover stand is a bit less strong. Still prone to sliding and easily detached from the back panel of the body. Meanwhile, the magnetic system on the keyboard is quite strong and still easy to remove.
Overall body profile is quite thin. The dimensions are also compact. Weighing around 0.78 kg (without keyboard and stand cover), the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED is relatively light. Easily fits into a bag and is ideal for users with high mobility.
For connectivity on the left side, there are two USB-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD slot. Meanwhile, on the right side there are buttons for volume settings.
The screen is brilliant
It is undeniable that the main attraction of the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED is on the screen. The 13.3-inch ASUS OLED display panel that it carries is very pleasing to the eye. The response of the screen with the touch of a finger is also very good. The touchscreen also supports the use of the optional ASUS Pen 2.0 stylus pen. One that lacks the screen panel is quite easy to leave fingerprints. So, it must be cleaned frequently.
The display on the screen looks sharp at Full HD resolution and is rich in color. The color accuracy is topnotch. It supports the 100% DCI-P3 color gamut standard and is Pantone Validated. Reliable for content creation
Thanks to Dolby Vision support, the screen is also very optimal for enjoying movie content in HDR mode. The experience of enjoying multimedia content on this device is even more exciting with four pairs of speakers supported by Dolby Atmos. The sound performance of this speaker is very good. Sounds clear and powerful.
Keyboard is comfortable to use
To support productivity, the detachable keyboard also comes with a very thin profile. But, fortunately the keyboard buttons are quite large and not too flat with the body surface. Typing with the keyboard is quite comfortable and doesn’t make your hands sore quickly.
One plus is in the trackpad area. The trackpad area under the keyboard has a very large size. So, it is very convenient to use for navigation. The touchpad response to the touch of a finger is also very good.
Limited features
Not many features can be found on the ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED. For security, ASUS provides a fingerprint sensor that is directly integrated with the power button.
Then, like tablet devices in general, there are two cameras on the front and back. The rear camera uses a 13 megapixel sensor and a 5 megapixel front camera. The front camera is capable enough to support video conferencing. Other features include WiFi 6 support and the Quick Charge feature for faster battery charging.
Enough performance for daily productivity
Entering the kitchen sector, the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED is powered by an Intel Pentium Silver N6000 processor. The processor is supported by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD storage space. The benchmark results are as follows:
With these specifications, the ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED can run the Windows 11 operating system quite smoothly. It should also be noted that the Intel Pentium Silver is not a processor that prioritizes fast performance. However, the overall performance is sufficient to support daily productivity. Such as typing documents in Microsoft Office, browsing, e-mail, video conferencing and enjoying multimedia content. For creative content, it is enough for simple photo and video editing.
Then what about the thermal management? The Vivobook 13 Slate OLED comes with a fanless cooling solution. The positive value is the performance is very quiet. However, on the back left side of the body it will feel quite warm when used for activities. If used in laptop mode it will not interfere. However, it will be quite annoying when used in tablet mode.
The battery is quite durable
Our ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED battery test was carried out with the scheme connected to WiFi, screen brightness level of 50 percent and activating Windows battery saver mode. For productivity needs such as typing documents and occasionally browsing this battery can last up to about 9 hours. It’s not the most durable. However, it is sufficient to support hybrid work styles and highly mobile workers.
Conclusion
The presence of the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED is proof that ASUS is able to present an OLED screen for all without the need to spend expensively. Overall we are quite satisfied with the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED. Especially on the screen, the keyboard is comfortable and the audio sector is clear and powerful. Even so, there are still some compromises that need to be understood. Such as mediocre performance and magnetic stand design that is prone to detachment. With a selling price of around USD $600, the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED is the cheapest 2-in-1 PC with an OLED screen at the moment. We highly recommend it for anyone who needs a compact laptop with a beautiful screen to support daily productivity and entertainment.
