Rumors of a second FPV drone from DJI have proven true. Named Avata , the presence of this drone is also accompanied by two new accessories, namely DJI Googles 2 and DJI Motion Controller.
Features of DJI Avata
Prioritizing agility and speed Avata is designed with a very compact and light weight. More compact than the previous DJI FPV . To fly this drone relies on a four-propeller system. Each propeller has added aerodynamic guards for additional safety.

Avata is also equipped with a capable camera system. The camera relies on a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor with a resolution of 48 megapixels. The video recording capability can be up to 4K/60fps and 120fps at 2.7K resolution. Right in front of the sensor can be found a wide-angle lens. The lens can capture images up to an angle of 155 degrees with an aperture of F2.8.

The video mode is also supported by the D-Cinelike mode. The DJI RockSteady and DJI HorizonSteady stabilizer features are also available to stabilize the shot. The photos and videos can then be saved to the internal memory which has a capacity of 20GB. If it’s not enough, it can still be added through the help of a microSD memory card.

Avata can fly for 18 minutes. This drone also brings one new feature, namely Turtle Mode. As the name implies, this mode will automatically flip the drone up if it lands on its back. Then, the drone will be ready to be flown again.
Another new feature Avata is equipped with an emergency brake. When pressed the drone will automatically stop and hover in place. In addition, there is also a Failsafe Return Home feature that will allow the drone to fly to the starting point of an automatic flight or when the battery is running low.
Other features Avata is equipped with a GEO 2.0 geofencing system, AirSense ADS-B and AeroScope technology. So, it can be flown safely and avoid obstacles that are around it. Flight modes such as Normal, Manual, and Sport are also available and can be selected according to user needs.
DJI Googles 2 and DJI Motion Controller

The DJI Googles 2 is DJI’s most compact and lightweight video headset. To display the image, this video headset brings a Micro OLED screen with diopter settings and a touch panel. Googles 2 can connect to Avata via DJI O3+ transmission. Users can stream from Avata cameras at 1080p resolutions up to 100fps from a distance of up to 10 Km.

Meanwhile, the DJI Motion Controller is a control stick that will offer easier and more flexible control. Through the Motion Controller, users can control the Avata with more precision only through hand movements. Similar to using the Oculus Rift VR headset or HTC Vive Pro 2. It can be an alternative for users who are not used to flying drones with a remote control.
