DJI is raising the bar for entry-level drones again. Its latest product, the DJI Mini 3 Pro, managed to become the first most compact and advanced folding drone.
DJI Mini 3 Pro Camera
The DJI Mini 3 Pro comes with significant design, camera and feature updates compared to the previous generation. Amazingly, bringing many DJI updates while still maintaining the typical light weight of the DJI Mini which is only around 249 grams. So, Mini 3 Pro remains very compact, light and easy to carry around.
In the camera sector, the Mini 3 Pro comes with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with a resolution of 48 megapixels and supports dual native ISO features. The sensor size and resolution is larger than the DJI Mini 2. The sensor used by the DJI Mini 2 is 1/2.3 inch with a resolution of only 12 megapixels.
Right in front of the sensor DJI is now installing a 24mm lens with an aperture of F1.7. The aperture is larger when compared to the DJI Mini 2 lens which is only F/2.8. Practically, with a larger sensor size, dual native ISO and a larger aperture, the DJI Mini 3 Pro camera will capture images more reliably in all lighting conditions.
Then what about the videography capabilities? The DJI Mini 3 Pro camera can record video at up to 4K 60 fps resolution. HDR video recording is also supported up to 4K 30 fps resolution. For optimal shooting, DJI provides a D-Cinelike color profile option that will make it easier for creators to adjust colors or color grading in the editing process. In video mode the camera also supports the zoom feature. Digital zoom up to 2x can be used when recording 4K video. 3x zoom in 2.7K resolution and up to 4x zoom in Full HD resolution.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro camera gimbal is also getting an update. Now, the gimbal supports 90 degree rotation. This means, it is possible for users to take vertical videos. It’s perfect for sharing on social networking platforms like Tiktok, Snapchat and Instagram Reels.
First with Tri-Directional Obstacle Sensing
For the first time in the DJI Mini line, the Mini 3 Pro features Tri-Directional Obstacle Sensing consisting of front, rear and bottom facing sensors. This drone is also the first DJI Mini variant to support Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) 4.0 autopilot technology. So, the DJI Mini 3 Pro can detect and avoid obstacles in the vicinity to minimize the risk of a collision.
Battery lasts longer
For the standard configuration, the DJI Mini 3 Pro carries a battery that can be used to fly up to about 34 minutes. However, if you need a longer flight time, DJI provides the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus battery option with a larger capacity. With this battery the flight time can be up to 47 minutes.
One thing to note is that the use of Intelligent Flight Battery Plus will have an impact on the weight of the DJI Mini 3 Pro. With a larger battery capacity it will weigh more than 250 grams. So, with a weight above 250 grams, users must obey and pay attention to regulations and register drones to get a flying permit in each country.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro also supports flight and automatic shooting features. Including, FocusTrack automatic tracking which offers a variety of shooting modes such as Spotlight 2.0, Point of Interest 3.0 and ActiveTrack 4.0.
