The third generation of the Osmo Action action camera is officially announced. One thing that is interesting, the Osmo Action 3 abandons the modular style of the DJI Action 2 and returns to adopting the first generation design with two touch screens.

Features of the DJI Osmo Action 3

This action camera comes with the same 1/1.7-inch sensor as the DJI Action 2 . With this sensor, the video recording capability can be up to 4K/60 fps resolution. For more cinematic video recording with slow motion, it can also be up to 4K/120fps resolution. The video mode is also supported with D-Cinelike mode and a wide-angle lens with 155-degree coverage.

RockSteady stabilizer technology remains available. Entering its third generation, RockSteady 3.0 can now be used for video recording at 4K/120p resolution. The stabilizer feature is even more complete with RockSteady, HorizonSteady stabilization options and a new option, HorizonBalancing.

The update then shifts to the battery sector. The battery is now called Extreme Battery with a capacity of 1770 mAh. Enough to record video at 1080p/30p resolution non-stop for up to about 160 minutes. The good news is that this battery also supports the fast recharge feature via the USB-C Power Delivery Port. In just 18 minutes the battery can be charged up to 80%.

Another interesting feature, the body design is waterproof up to 16 meters without the need for an additional case, and is supported by the InvisiStick feature which will remove the selfie stick automatically during the editing process. This action camera also supports live broadcast features, is equipped with three stereo microphones, and is available with a variety of new accessories that are more complete.

Price and availability

Osmo Action 3 is sold with two combo packs. These include the Standard Combo which costs US$329 and the Adventure Combo which costs US$439.
