First Impression Trying OPPO Reno8 5G Camera

OPPO Reno8 5G puts forward a variety of advanced features that make it no less tempting than the Reno8 Pro 5G. In fact, even though it is not equipped with the MariSilicon X NPU, it turns out that the device that carries the slogan The Portrait Expert is still capable of producing low-light photos that deserve thumbs up.

At the introduction of the entire Reno8 Series in Jakarta, Thursday (11/8), Yangcangguh.com had the opportunity to try the OPPO Reno8 5G firsthand, especially the camera capabilities. Curious about our first impression? Come on, just take a look!

    Beautiful and premium design

In terms of design, the Reno8 5G has similarities to the Reno8 Pro 5G. Take, for example, the sleek unibody concept with an integrated camera module and back cover thanks to a single glass heating. Yes, so it’s not two pieces that stick together like on most other phones. With such a design, the area around the camera will not be filled with dust let alone get into the camera.

The appearance of the OPPO Reno8 5G camera module is inspired by vintage cinema cameras. You will find Ring Flash that also serves to create a unique aesthetic. The color variants are also luxurious, there is Shimmer Gold with a gradient effect that changes according to the point of view, and elegant Shimmer Black.

When we first tried it, the dimensions of the OPPO Reno8 5G felt quite right in the hand. The operating sensation is also comfortable, including when using only one hand. For your information, this phone has a thickness of 7.67mm and weighs 179 grams. It doesn’t make it heavy and tight in your pants pocket.

It should also be noted that the finishing on the Reno8 5G back cover is not easily soiled by fingerprints. Suitable for those of you who do not like to install additional cases. At the bottom you’ll find the USB Type-C port along with the speaker, mic, and SIM-tray holes. While on the front there is a 6.4-inch screen with a small punch hole in the top left corner to accommodate the selfie camera.

    Low-light photos

On the same occasion we did not forget to taste the camera capabilities of the Reno8 5G, especially for shooting in low light conditions. There are two scenarios we tried. The first is a dark room with a colorful light background, and the second is a darker room with only one light source.

At the first location we were immediately attracted to try the Bokeh Flare Portrait mode. The abundance of lights in the background makes for ideal conditions to create this feature’s signature artistic neon effect. From the photo below, it can be seen that the separation of the main object looks clear and sharp with the skin color being relatively the same as the original. In addition, the separation of objects from the background is also neat, and minimal noise.

We also didn’t forget to try taking pictures using Night Mode either using the main camera, selfie camera, or ultra-wide camera. The results are also quite satisfactory. Noise can be suppressed well without sacrificing detail, and the feel of the night is still the same as it should be, especially in dark areas. For night mode with an ultra-wide camera, there is a decrease in detail but overall the results are still worth showing off.

In the second location, the photo concept is more or less similar to when we tried the Reno8 Pro 5G camera last week. This super dark room is only helped by one light source which is made as if sunlight is coming in from a small window.

Although (probably) not as good as the Reno8 Pro 5G , we think the photos at this second location are okay. Noise is minimal, dark areas still look like the original, and the sharpness of the main object is maintained quite well, including the hair. In addition, the color of his skin did not miss.

First impressions and other features leaks

Our first impression of the OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G is certainly positive. Moreover, apart from the camera, this phone is also supported by various other advanced features, such as 80W SuperVOOC complete with Battery Health Engine. Performance is also fierce thanks to the Dimensity 1300 chipset.

    OPPO Reno8 5G launch schedule

OPPO Reno8 5G and its three siblings will launch on August 15, 2022. In addition to the Reno8 Series, at the same event OPPO will also announce three of its newest IoT devices, namely the OPPO Pad Air tablet, TWS OPPO Enco Air2 Pro, and TWS OPPO Enco Buds 2.
