The Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo is the newest member of the Instax digital instant camera family. There are many interesting features that it brings. Curious about anything? Check out his review as follows.

Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo Desain Design

First in the design sector. Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo appears with a retro style that at first glance looks like a rangefinder camera. In fact, the Instax instant camera is more ideal for use in a vertical position. However, it is still possible to use it in landscape or horizontal positions.

The body carries a plastic material. The body color is silver combined with black synthetic leather material. Effective enough to prevent it from slipping when gripped. Overall dimensions are compact and light. So, it’s easy to get into your bag and take on the go.

At the front there is a 28mm lens with an aperture of F2.0. The lens is surrounded by a rotating ring that can be used to select lens effects. Flash and a small mirror to help with selfies typical of Instax instant cameras are also still available.

On the back of the body can be found a 3-inch LCD screen. It’s a shame that the screen doesn’t support touch features. For navigation and selecting menus, you can rely on the buttons at the bottom of the screen which are quite comfortable to press. Above the screen can be found a lever to access the Instax film paper mounting slot.

One thing that caught Fujifilm’s attention was also adding a lever and rotary control knob on top of the body that was inspired by analog cameras. In analog cameras, this lever is used to roll a roll of film. Meanwhile, the rotary control dial to select the camera shutter speed. The difference is, in the Instax Mini Evo the lever is useful for starting photo printing. Rotate control dial to select filter effect.

For power intake, the Instax Mini Evo relies on a rechargeable battery. Charging the battery can rely on the micro USB port at the bottom of the body. Not yet USB Type-C. A microSD slot is also available to store all the photos taken. If you don’t want to use a microSD, the internal memory can still load up to 45 photos.

Features of Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo

Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo is a digital instax camera that offers a hybrid concept. This means that there are two main features, namely as an instant camera and a photo printer.

So, photos can be printed immediately after the photo is taken. Or, you can print photos from your phone. To print photos from mobile Fujifilm presents a new application called Instax Evo which is available for iOS and Android devices.

Getting a digital touch The most interesting features of this instant camera are the lens effects and filters. There are 10 lens effects and 10 film effects that can be selected according to the user’s taste. These two effect features can also be combined with up to 100 unique effect combinations.

Performance of Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo

As a digital camera, the Instax Mini Evo relies on a 1/5-inch CMOS sensor with a resolution of 4.9 megapixels. The quality of the photos is limited. Less sharp and not detailed. Cannot be compared with smartphone cameras or modern digital pocket cameras that use a larger sensor size and higher resolution.

Even so, the photos are still very adequate to be printed on Instax Mini film measuring 5.4 x 8.6 cm. Coupled with the various filter effects and lens effects available, you can experiment with producing more creative photo prints.

Then how does it perform as a portable printer? From our tests its function as a portable printer is very satisfactory. This is because Fujifilm provides two print quality options, namely Instax Natural Mode and Instax Rich Mode which can be accessed via the Fujifilm Instax Evo application.

For original Fujifilm Instax photo prints with softer color tones, you can choose Natural Mode. Meanwhile, if you want to get photo prints with more contrasting color tones and rich colors, you can choose Instax Rich Mode. Here’s a comparison of Natural Mode (right) and Instax Rich Mode (Left)

The app also provides a simple photo editing feature. Including, the addition of filter effects. There are relatively few filter options available, only monochrome, sepia and auto. Other features available are remote shooting to take photos from a distance and transferred images.

The Transfered Image option can be selected to transfer photos from the camera to the cellphone. However, only photos that have been printed can be sent to the phone for storage. You can also save photos to your cellphone with the Instax film-style frame option with a background whose color can be chosen according to your taste.

Conclusion

Carrying a hybrid concept without losing the essence of the Instax instant camera is the main attraction of the Instax Mini Evo. Moreover, the presence of filter and lens effect options that can be directly selected on the camera will not be found on any instant camera. This makes it even more fun to hone your creativity. With a series of features that it brings, it can be said that the Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo is the most advanced Fujifilm Instax camera today.
