Just like other variants of Victus laptops, this laptop from Hewlett Packard or HP Victus 16 has a simple design for the gaming class in Indonesia. It can be seen on the back cover that there is only a V-shaped Victus logo without any strange patterns, making it even more eye catching when carried on a hangout.
Moreover, this gaming laptop released in 2021 is already powered by an 11th generation Intel Core i7-11800H or Tiger Lake H45 processor coupled with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics. Armed with these specifications, of course, it is still strong enough to beat current games with optimal graphics.
Priced at US $1,389, what can you get from this simple glossy black gaming laptop? Here’s a full review of the HP Victus 16 (d0107TX) .
Design

This laptop has a fairly large size with a length of 37cm and a width of 26cm and a thickness of 2.46cm for a gaming device that carries the name Victus. So don’t ask about the weight which is in the range of 2.46 Kg, if you add a charger, the overall weight of this laptop reaches 3 Kg.
Obviously, not a portable laptop that is comfortable to carry anywhere or put in a 14-inch backpack along with other items. Even so, the Victus 16 laptop has materials that are strong enough for everyday use.
The same design language as its sibling OMEN or Pavilion is made of polycarbonate, making it less prone to scratches or minor scratches. But every now and then, this laptop is cleaned of fingerprints with a single wipe of tissue when used.

Even if there are complaints, we feel that the screen cover of the HP Victus 16 is too “wobble” so it doesn’t look sturdy and easy to shake, whether intentionally or not. It doesn’t interfere with performance, but it feels like when used on a portable desk, I have to be extra careful when using this laptop.
Screen

Apart from the wobble laptop cover problem, the HP Victus 16 d0107TX is equipped with a 16.1-inch full HD screen using an IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a brightness level of 250 nits which is able to produce wider viewing angles and rich colors 45% NTSC color gamut.
Offers a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. The 16-inch screen size is currently a trend and has been adopted by several laptop vendors because it offers a more spacious and immersive visual experience.
The top, left and right bezels are already relatively thin, making the HP Victus an all-rounder gaming laptop also suitable for use by content creators and casual users who need fast performance. Plus, HP provides the HP Victus 16 screen with anti-glare features and Low Blue Light so that your eyes don’t get tired easily when playing games for a long time.
Ports and Connectivity

The connectivity of the HP Victus 16 d0107TX gaming laptop is fairly complete. On the right there are two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. Then on the left there is a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port (5 Gb/s signaling rate, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge, HDMI 2.1 card reader port, and a combo port audio.
As for internet connectivity, this laptop already supports Wi-Fi 6 with Intel AX 201 (2×2), and Bluetooth 5.0 support which is more power efficient with a wide coverage. Don’t miss the 10/100/1000 GbE LAN port.
On the audio side, the HP Victus 16 d0107TX relies on the support of two speakers made by Bang & Olufsen Play or B&O Play coupled with HP Audio Boost. So it can produce clear sound and rich in detail to spoil the ears of gamers when playing games or enjoying multimedia content.
Performance

You could say, the variant I’m reviewing has a fairly powerful performance in its class. Considering the main advantages offered by this gaming laptop is the support for the Intel Core i7-11800H octa-core (16 thread) Tiger Lake H45 which runs at a standard speed of 2.3GHz and TurboBoost up to 4.6GHz. This chipset is paired with 16GB DDR4 RAM memory with a dual-channel 3200MHz speed which is upgradable up to 32GB.
Using this laptop for browsing needs, opening Office applications, to Xbox PC Pass at the same time can be done smoothly. The surface temperature of this laptop is also quite maintained, and the sound of the fan tends to be quiet, and not too blaring when used when in full load condition.
For the graphics side, this laptop relies on two graphics cards consisting of an Intel UHD Graphics Xe 750 (32 EUs) and a discrete Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. The graphics performance of Intel UHD Graphics Xe 750 is fairly standard and adequate to handle everyday computing. .
However, when used to run competitive games such as Valorant and Genshin Impact, the default graphics settings are high. Where this laptop will switch it to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU based on the GA106 chip combined with 6GB GDDR6 VRAM memory with a speed of 14Gbps. Of course it will be smooth to play other AAA games.
HP also provides a special application called HP CoolSense. This application functions to regulate CPU performance and fan rotation, when the laptop is being carried or placed in an unstable or stationary position such as on a table. In total there are two fans at the bottom, which can blow air through a special hole in the rear body.
More Features

There are no special gaming features on the HP Victus 16, other than the OMEN Gaming Hub application which is the same as its brethren. This application automatically curates the games that have been installed on the laptop.
Turning to the keyboard, the HP Victus 16 only has a single white backlit. Although not RGB or other colors, the presence of backlit lights is quite comfortable to use when playing games or typing in low light conditions. This laptop is also equipped with a numeric keypad that supports 26-Key Rollover Anti-Ghosting Key technology for comfortable playing.
Battery
Hewlett Packard provides this laptop with a 4-cell 70 Whrs Lithium ion polymer battery. Although the size is fairly large, unfortunately the power requirements for gamers can only last up to 7 hours 15 minutes for standard computing usage.
In my tests, it was relatively light, opening several browser tabs from Opera Browser, Xbox and streaming Youtube. With battery saver mode and 75-85% brightness, it only reaches a maximum of 4 hours. And to charge, it took a little more than 2 hours to reach 100%, or -+40% within 30 minutes of charging.
Conclusion
We think this HP Victus 16 series can be an interesting option for you gamers who need a laptop that is tough, elegant and has fast performance in its class. Intel Core i7-11800H and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 are very capable to accompany gaming activities with stunning real time ray tracing.
This United States manufacturer also provides its laptop with the Windows 10 Home x64 operating system and the original Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019 made by Microsoft installed on it. HP Victus 16 can be the best choice for gamers and content creators with a retail price of around USD $1,389.
Looking at the specifications, the price offered is quite attractive and makes this gaming laptop suitable not only for gamers, but also content creators and casual users. However, there are a few notes, some of the shortcomings other than the wobble screen cover, battery life and relatively large dimensions.
But again, the name is also a gaming laptop. This situation is very common and natural to find in competitor products. So if it’s not a problem for you, please make this laptop the main consideration.
