iPhone 15 Design Will Come Without Physical Buttons?

Apple is rumored to be making drastic changes to the design of the iPhone 15. Even this change is considered radical compared to the previous iPhone.

This was revealed by analyst Ming-Chi Ko who said that Apple would eliminate the physical volume and power buttons. However, this concept is only applied to the iPhone 15 premium model design.

Instead, Apple is still presenting a solid-state button that doesn’t move via a haptic motor. That way the button has no spring effect when pressed.

“My latest survey shows that the volume and power buttons of the two high-end iPhone 15/2H23 models may adopt solid-state buttons (similar to the front button design of the iPhone 7/8/SE2 and 3 to replace the physical/mechanical button design,” he said. quoted by Forbes , Monday (31/10/2022).

Kuo added, Apple will install Taptic Engines (the company’s brand for haptic motors) on the left and right sides of the internals of the latest iPhones so that users can still feel the sensation of pressing physical buttons.

Apparently not only the iPhone 15 design will adopt a design like this. Kuo also mentioned that Android phones will also present the same design concept.

iPhone 15 Design Concept Isn’t Apple’s New Toy

It must be admitted, the concept in the iPhone 15 design that Kuo claims is indeed quite strange. However, it cannot be denied the possibility of its application.

This is because haptic motors are not Apple’s new toy, as the company has been implementing them on the touchpad on MacBooks since 2015. Also, this technology was introduced under the name 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s but failed because it wasn’t very intuitive.

This is almost in line with the anonymous account ShrimpApplePro which leaked the codename of the iPhone 15. Through his Twitter account, he claimed the iPhone without physical buttons had the codename “Bongo”.

In addition to leaks regarding the design, the iPhone 15 is also said to not use the name “Pro Max”. Reportedly the name of this type of iPhone for the latest generation will use the name iPhone 15 Ultra with a chassis made of titanium.
