The difference is very minor. Only in body color. The original version of the Leica Summicron-M 28mm F2 ASPH is available with a choice of glossy black and silver body colors. Meanwhile, the Leica Summicron-M 28mm F2 ASPH Matte Black comes with a matte black finish all over the body. According to Leica, this matte paint coat is more resistant to scratches and dirt. Other differences can then be seen in the print and numbers on the body. The color is no longer yellow and white like the original. But, replaced with a greenish white color called “neutral green”.
For the Leica Summicron-M 28mm F2 ASPH Matte Black specification, it comes with a nine-element design in six groups. Includes, one aspherical lens element. This lens supports apertures of F/2 to F/16, a minimum focus distance of 70cm and can be fitted with a 46mm lens filter.
