Targeting heavyweight gamers, Lenovo presents the Legion 7i. Not only does it offer powerful performance, this premium gaming laptop also brings a number of innovative features to provide a more optimal gaming experience. Are you curious about the performance of the Lenovo Legion 7i? Check out the following reviews.

Lenovo Legion 7i design

The Lenovo Legion 7i is still present while maintaining the minimalist design that has become the hallmark of the Lenovo Legion. Overall, the dimensions are relatively large. Its weight is about 2.25Kg. It’s relatively heavy, but it’s understandable considering this laptop carries very powerful specifications. Like the Legion 5 series, a series of connectivity ports can be found neatly arranged behind the body.

The rear port consists of HDMI, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, ethernet, and a power input. Meanwhile, on the left side of the body there is a 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, and a Thunderbolt 3 port.Slifting to the right is a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port.On this laptop gamers will also not find a micro-SD slot. .

To accentuate its gaming aura, the Lenovo Legion 7i looks cool with RGB U strip lighting at the bottom of the front of the body panel and at the rear ventilation holes. The “Y” logo on the body cover can also light up.

Lenovo Legion 7i display

The Lenovo Legion 7i carries a 15.6-inch IPS screen panel with Full HD resolution. The screen brightness level can reach 500 nits. So, the screen will still look clear even in very bright lighting.

As a gaming laptop, the screen panel also supports 144Hz refresh rate. In fact, the screen is also compatible with Nvidia G-Sync technology. In addition, the colors are also very accurate by supporting the 100% color standard Adobe RGB, HDR400, and Dolby Vision.

To optimize the visual output on the screen, Lenovo provides an overdrive feature that can be accessed through the Lenovo Vantage. When activated this feature will increase the screen response time from 4 milliseconds to 1 millisecond. As a result, the display that is presented on the screen can avoid the screen tearing effect during the gaming session.

Overall we are very satisfied with this Lenovo Legion 7i display panel. Besides being very comfortable to use for gaming, the screen can also be relied on for content creation such as editing photos or videos.

Lenovo Legion 7i Keyboard

Like the Legion 5, the Legion 7i carries the Lenovo TrueStrike keyboard. The buttons are perfectly sized and very responsive with 100% anti-ghosting feature. The keyboard is also equipped with a water spill resistant feature. About the comfort of this keyboard is the same as the Legion 5 that we have reviewed before. Very comfortable to use for typing or playing games.

What is different, the Lenovo Legion 7i keyboard is equipped with an iCUE RGB lighting system from Corsair. Meanwhile, under the keyboard is a large mouse trackpad that is very responsive to the touch of a finger. The trackpad’s left and right click buttons are also very comfortable when pressed.

Lenovo Legion 7i audio

Lenovo Legion 7i carries 2W x 2 speakers with Dolby Atmos for gaming features. This feature provides a variety of audio presets specifically made for several game genres. In fact, there are also presets for enjoying movie or music content. The audio performance is also quite satisfying. The sound produced is powerful and clear, optimal for gaming or enjoying multimedia content.

Lenovo Legion 7i Features

As a high-end gaming laptop, the Lenovo Legion 7i also carries an array of tantalizing features. The mainstay features of Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo Q-Control can still be found on this laptop. By pressing FN + Q, gamers can automatically select laptop settings. The selection of each mode can be seen from the color of the LED indicator on the power button. Blue for Quiet mode, White for Auto and Red for performance mode. All settings will be carried out automatically, including the overclock feature that can be activated in Lenovo Vantage for the Performance option.

Lenovo Vantage on the Legion 7i also allows gamers to monitor the CPU, RAM, GPU to make a series of settings for this laptop more quickly and easily. At Lenovo Vantage gamers can also find the overdrive feature that we mentioned earlier, the hybrid mode feature which when active will allow the laptop to automatically switch to the integrated gpu and deactivate the Nvidia discrete gpu so that power use can be more efficient, conservation mode to limit battery charging to a percentage. and features rapid charge to speed up battery recharge.

Lenovo Legion 7i performance

The Lenovo Legion 7i we reviewed is the version that uses an Intel Core i7-10875H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q 8GB GDDR6 GPU. The amount of RAM it uses is 32GB with 1TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe storage space.

The amount of 32GB RAM is maximal so it can’t be added anymore. Meanwhile, there is still one slot for storage space to install a SATA 2.5 ″ HDD. So, the 1TB SSD storage space it carries, if it’s not enough, can still be expanded. The benchmark results are as follows.

With this very powerful specification, all computing tasks can be run very smoothly without the slightest lag. These specifications are also qualified for editing photos or videos to 3D rendering needs.

The gaming performance is clearly very satisfying. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q 8GB GDDR6 GPU manages to deliver excellent gaming performance in the highest settings. In the FN + Q Performance gaming mode, games like Valorant and Apex Legend can be run with an average FPS above 100. For AAA class games such as Metro Exodus, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Shadow of Tomb Raider, all can be played. very smoothly without any problems.

Excellent thermal management. Thanks to the Legion ColdFront 2.0 cooling technology and four heat dissipation ports on the body, when gaming we only felt a very little warm sensation on the surface of the keyboard. This cooling system is also able to keep performance stable even if it is used to play games for a long time.

Lenovo Legion 7i battery

Carrying its very powerful specs we just don’t set high standards for battery life. From testing for non-gaming scenarios by activating performance settings in FN + Q Quiet mode, activating hybrid mode, windows power management in the battery saver option, reducing the brightness of the screen by 30%, disabling the backlit keyboard feature and Always On USB charge, connecting to WiFi and used for typing and browsing the battery can last almost 6 hours. The Lenovo Legion 7i battery also supports the Rapid Charge Pro feature. When active, the battery charge can be faster, in about 30 minutes the battery can be charged up to 50%.

Conclusion

Competition for gaming laptops in the premium class is currently very hot. Combining the performance of Intel Core i7-10875H, RTX 2070 MAX-Q 8GB and SSD up to 1TB Legion 7i deserves a thumbs up with its very fast, stable performance and being the most powerful Legion variant. Perfect and complete configuration for an ideal gaming laptop. Moreover, thermal management is also very good.

With its selling price in the range of 35.99 million Rupiah (Intel Core i7-10875H, 32GB RAM, RTX2070 8GB MAX-Q and 1TB SSD), this gaming laptop is not for the “better build PC”. Lenovo Legion 7i is a must for sultan gamers who don’t want the hassle of upgrading or building a PC. The reason is, the standard specifications are very satisfying and optimal for AAA gaming and support content creation.

The advantages of the Lenovo Legion 7i:
+ Very powerful performance + Excellent
thermal management
+ Relatively quiet performance
+ Very large SSD capacity with additional slots for expansion
+ Keyboard is very comfortable to use
+ Complete features
+ Webcam equipped with Trueblock Privacy Shutter feature
+ Very satisfying screen

Weaknesses of Lenovo Legion 7i:
– Not equipped with SD memory card slot
– Average battery
