After Dimensity 7050 , MediaTek is back to introducing its newest chipset which is built with the TSMC N6 (6nm) fabrication. Called MediaTek Dimensity 8050, this chipset has 1 Super Core with speeds of up to 3 GHz and a 9-core GPU which is claimed to be great for gaming.

MediaTek Dimensity 8050 specifications

The Dimensity 8050 is armed with an octa-core CPU consisting of 1 Super Core Cortex-A78 with a speed of 3 GHz, 3-core Cortex-A78 performance with a speed of 2.6 GHz, and 4-core power-saving Cortex-A55 with a speed of 2 GHz. While the GPU is Mali-G77.

This chipset supports up to 16 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and storage with UFS 3.1 technology. Dimensity 8050 supports video recording up to 4K HDR, as well as a screen with a resolution of up to 2520 x 1080 pixels at a maximum refresh rate of 168Hz.

For camera needs, Dimensity 8050 can be paired with sensors up to 200 MP and is claimed to be able to take pictures at night 20 percent faster than the previous generation. Features such as AI Super Panorama, AI Noise Reduction, AI Exposure and AI Object Tracking are also available.

From the connectivity sector, Dimensity 8050 is equipped with Dual 5G (SA + SA) support, and MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology to make power consumption more efficient. This chipset also has WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

Release schedule

MediaTek Dimensity 8050 will reportedly be the main weapon of the Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G mobile phone. However, there is no information whether the device will enter Indonesia or not. In addition, there are no leaks about other smartphones that will adopt this chipset for their next newest device.

First impression

Dimensity 8050 promises fast performance and is ideal for gaming. It would be interesting if it was embedded in a middle to upper class console, which usually has a complete offer in terms of performance, camera, charging technology, and so on.
