Neumann launched its first audio interface, the Neumann MT 48. This device is the first product in collaboration with Merging Technologies, which originates from Switzerland. Based on Merging Anubis, the Neumann MT 48 now features additional USB and ADAT connectivity, as well as a new user interface to set new standards in audio quality.

Neumann CEO Ralf Oehl added: “Over the past decade, we’ve proven that Neumann can deliver the same extraordinary quality to loudspeakers and headphones. The MT 48 completes the ideal signal chain: Finally, you can have Neumann quality all over, from the sound source to your ears.”

The Neumann MT 48 has 4 analog input channels and 8 analog output channels (4 stereo outputs) and is expandable via ADAT (switchable to S/PDIF) and AES67. MIDI I/O is also included. With a dynamic range of 136 dB (A) and microphone preamps with a gain of up to 78 dB, the MT 48 is able to capture the full sound potential of even the best microphones without any obstructions.

The MT 48 also offers two very powerful headphone amplifiers with very low output impedances, maximizing the performance of any type of headphone . Four independent mixers , one for each stereo output, allow for seamless monitoring , boosting creativity in inspiring performances.

Ease of operation is also the highlight of the MT 48, with a high-resolution color touch screen. The intuitive touchscreen interface allows users to easily change mixer level, pan position, and other parameters. For users who wish to operate MT 48 from their computer or tablet, a browser- based Remote Control and Web Control application is available.

Neumann MT 48 is sold at an official price of USD $2.355. More complete information can be seen on the Neumann MT 48 website .

First impressions of the Neumann MT 48

Neumann’s first audio interface is a welcome addition to the Neumann ecosystem of microphones, speakers and headphones that has been around for nearly 100 years. Despite its relatively compact size, the MT 48 has qualified specifications making it suitable for professional grade recordings.
