During the WWDC 2023 event which was held some time ago, Apple also announced the upcoming updates for their wireless audio devices. Through software updates, there will be many new AirPods features that can be enjoyed—especially for AirPods Pro 2 users, aka the second generation.

Yes, Apple hasn’t released a new TWS earphone yet, while AirPods Pro 2 have been released since last September, aka almost three years after the first generation. Even though the exterior looks identical, Apple is said to have overhauled the innards of the device, in order to present better sound quality as well as more effective noise cancellation.

Along with the announcement of the new iOS 17, watchOS 10, iPadOS and macOS, AirPods users will also get new features, with the number depending on the AirPods series used. Unfortunately, the three new AirPods features will only be available for TWS released last September. Making it even more sophisticated, not inferior to Sony’s.

It’s Easier To Chat With Others

Yes, Sony’s TWS earphones are also known for their optimal noise canceling quality, transparent mode, and automatic mode. Like Sony’s conversation mode, the new AirPods Pro 2 feature announced is Conversation Awareness. Where when the user is talking, the music volume will be lowered, and the voices of other people around will be captured louder using the transparent mode algorithm.

Another new AirPods Pro 2 feature is Adaptive Audio and Personalized Volume. If the former automatically activates ANC when there is too loud noise around or transparent mode when someone is talking, Personalized Volume automatically detects the level of crowd around, and adjusts the audio volume to a more appropriate one. Will more accurately adjust user preferences.

For you who enter the Apple ecosystem, they will be able to enjoy the Automatic Switching feature later. Where you can transfer AirPods Pro 2 connections between Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads and Macbooks more instantly. There’s no need to wait too long to go from entertainment on your iPhone to Zoom calls on your Mac computer.

New AirPods Max Feature Only Mute/Unmute Option

Unfortunately, a number of the new AirPods features above are not available for other series, even the AirPods Max, which has a much higher price tag. A number of Apple headphone owners had expressed their frustration after the first day of WWDC 2023 was announced.

Apple just presented a new feature that can also be enjoyed by users of the first generation AirPods Pro, AirPods 3 and AirPods Max. Namely the mute/unmute feature during a voice call, by pressing the stem on the AirPods (or the Digital Crown on AirPods Max). Easy access when not holding iPhone.

All of these new AirPods features will be officially available next fall. For AirPods Pro 2 owners who can’t wait to try it out, you can try to register for a Developer Beta profile. Of course, it’s not perfect and it will be filled with bugs, so make sure it’s safe with all the consequences.
