OPPO A54 Review

Not all users need a smartphone to play games. Most users need a smartphone more as a means of communication and supporting activities, from work, study and entertainment.

And for them, OPPO presents A54 as a replacement for OPPO A31. An easy-to-use smartphone with an attractive design and a relatively affordable price. The following is the review.

OPPO A54 design

Even though it is officially sold at a price of USD $187, the OPPO A54 design looks more expensive than the price. Especially for the following Starry Blue variants, which have more visible color gradations.

A54 body will be able to change color and display a subtle color gradation bias when highlighted by light from various angles. This is what makes the design look luxurious and match the more expensive cellphones.

If used without a case, fingerprint marks will stick easily but not too severe like a cellphone with a glossy finish.

The design of the OPPO A54 is also comfortable to use. Not only that, the OPPO A54 is also designed to be waterproof. This phone has received IPX4 certification which makes it resistant to jets of water from various directions such as splashes from a swimming pool or a light rain shower.

This is a feature that is quite rare to find on phones in its price class.

Its large screen makes this phone suitable for older users who need a large display. The screen quality is also quite good, even though the screen resolution is still HD +. For most users, this screen resolution is adequate and will not reduce the comfort of use.

Ease of use is also noticed by OPPO through ColorOS 7.2 which is easy for new users to understand. Even users who have never used an OPPO smartphone will be able to adapt quickly.

OPPO A54 performance

With the Mediatek Helio P35 chipset, the OPPO A54’s performance is adequate if it is used for chatting, playing social media, watching streaming videos and browsing.

To play casual games like Chess or Candy Crush , OPPO A54 can still be relied on. But for playing heavier serious games like Genshin Impact, OPPO A54 is clearly not suitable. We suggest you switch to the above type such as OPPO Reno5F or Reno5.

OPPO A54 comes with one main camera on the back and two assistive cameras, namely a macro camera and a depth measuring camera for portraits.

The photo quality of OPPO A54 is good for the price. The photos look sharp with brilliant colors when shooting in ideal light conditions, as shown in the following sample photo.

But switching to slightly dim light conditions and at night, the image quality immediately drops dramatically.
Even though there is a Night Mode, producing sharp night photos with the OPPO A54 is not easy.

One solution is to use a tripod and Expert Mode for better night photos. The results of selfie photos are the same, good in bright light conditions and decrease dramatically in low light conditions.

The video quality of the OPPO A54 is quite okay. Again if in ideal light conditions and immediately decrease drastically in dim light. The following is the video recording of the OPPO A54.
