As the highest series in the Reno7 Series family for the Indonesian market, OPPO Reno7 5G certainly provides more complete features and more sophisticated hardware than its two brothers. All aspects are made to stand out, from design, performance, camera capabilities, to other supporting technologies.
But is the offer given by Reno7 5G in accordance with the selling price which is above 7 million rupiah? To prove it, just take a look at our review!
Charming slim
The Reno series always puts forward a charming exterior appearance. From the first generation to the newest, OPPO has consistently packaged its flagship products with modern and elegant concepts. On the Reno7 5G, you can choose two color options between Starry Black or Startrails Blue.
Maybe many think blue will be more fun than black which tends to be a bit boring. Initially, this opinion also crossed our minds when we found out that Yangcnggih.com got the Starry Black color review unit. After holding it, the impression we got was turned 180 degrees.
The color Starry Black here is not a dark, expressionless black. When exposed to just a little light, the black-blue gradation like the sky at night full of stars will be immediately visible. Beautiful, but still calm and has a luxurious feel. Suitable for those of you who are a bit bored with the usual black color, but also lack the confidence to stand out through bright colors.

It should also be noted that the back panel of this smartphone has adopted the OPPO Glow technology. So in addition to being free of fingerprints, it is also more resistant to scratches. During our testing, we intentionally didn’t install an additional case. As a result, the back cover still looks clean and smooth.
The Reno7 5G comes with an ultra-slim body that is not only thin and portable, but also lightweight. It is only 7.81mm thick and weighs 173 grams. The edges on the back of the body have a rounded shape (3 dimensions). Fun to hold and comfortable when put in a trouser pocket.
You’ll find a USB Type-C port, speaker jack, and a 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom side. Yes, even though the body is thin and TWS is widely available everywhere, OPPO still provides a 3.5mm port. In fact, it’s back again after it disappeared in the Reno6 5G series. Good news for those of you who prefer wired headsets.
Fingerprint sensor? It’s on the screen. Regarding the availability of slots, you can install two nano-SIM cards at once without having to worry about not being able to access the microSD slot. Yes, the slot is not a hybrid . The sales package includes a softcase, 65W SuperVOOC charger, SuperVOOC Type-C cable, and ejector pins.
Bright and sharp screen
Turning to the front, the Reno7 5G is equipped with a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of up to 180Hz. This punch-hole screen already has HD Streaming certification for Netflix and Amazon, as well as SGS Eye Care Display certification, which means it doesn’t tire the user’s eyes quickly.
The quality of the screen itself in our opinion is very good. The image display is bright, sharp, and quite comfortable to use in various lighting conditions, from dark rooms to outdoor in the sun. Various needs such as scrolling through social media, watching movies, and playing games are satisfying on this screen.
Interestingly, you can take advantage of the SDR-to-HDR feature called Video Color Enhancer for a more pleasing color presentation. As for the refresh rate, unfortunately, users can only choose between Standard 60 Hz or High 90Hz. There is no adaptive/automatic function that adjusts the content on the screen yet.
When you are not allowed to touch the screen, for example when eating, OPPO provides a feature called Air Gesture. With hand gestures, you can access functions like picking up the phone or scrolling through apps without having to litter the screen.
Talking a little about audio, OPPO Reno7 5G still relies on mono speakers. Indeed, the sound quality is quite solid. Loud and quite powerful. But in our opinion, it would be more fun if the built-in speakers were stereo.
Camera is okay for photos and videos
The Reno7 5G has a triple rear camera configuration consisting of 64 MP f/1.7, 8 MP f/2.4 ultra-wide, and 2 MP f/2.4 macro. For those who like selfies, there is a 32 MP f/2.4 camera in front. Like other Reno7 Series members, Reno7 5G also prioritizes portrait capabilities as one of its main selling points.
Please note that the portrait feature can be used via the rear camera or front camera. One of the most interesting things, OPPO claims that the artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm on the Reno7 5G mimics the optical properties of DSLR cameras. A feature that allows you to adjust the aperture (focal ratio) or aperture from F/0.95 to F/16 in Portrait mode.
What is its function? With technology like this, the camera is able to create bokeh light points of various sizes, colors, and brightness according to distance and depth. The sophistication of AI on the Reno7 5G device can also create different depths of field like when taking photos using a DSLR lens with a wide aperture.
The results are as predicted. Reno7 5G’s Portrait mode is quite special, although it can still be improved. Bokeh is natural. The separation between the object and the background looks smooth but the AI feel starts to get thicker when using a wider aperture. However, if the aperture setting is right, the portrait photos presented are already quite similar to a DSLR.
Bokeh Flare Portrait? As in previous generations, it allows you to create content with a blur effect and balls of light on the background. This feature is a bit ‘tricky’. It’s cool to make portrait photos with colorful lights at night, as long as the main object also gets adequate light so that the sharpness doesn’t decrease drastically, especially in the face and hair area.
The rest, you can rely on the OPPO Reno7 5G camera to capture moments in various conditions. The wide-angle camera photos are also quite good. While shooting in low light with Night mode, you will also get nice photos to show off on social media.
For those who like to create video content, Reno7 5G is supported by a variety of functional features, such as AI Highlight Video which will recognize every scene, and activate the Ultra Night function if it is dark or Live HDR in too bright/challenging light conditions. There is also Dual-View Video for recording using the rear camera and front camera simultaneously.
As far as our testing goes, the Reno7 5G video recording results look stable. If you move to the extreme, OPPO provides this phone with the Ultra Steady Video feature. So there’s no need to bother carrying around gimbals. In addition, the presence of the Focus Tracking feature is also very helpful in detecting and locking focus on the subject you touch on the screen. That way, you don’t have to follow your moving subject, because the camera’s focus will stay locked on that subject.
Agile performance, fast charging
Reno7 5G performance relies on the MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chipset, and supports N1, N3, and N40 bands to connect to 5G networks in Indonesia. Yes, the same chipset as the Reno6 5G. The embedded RAM is 8 GB and can be expanded up to a total of 13 GB. For internal storage, OPPO provides a capacity of 256 GB which can be expanded with a microSD up to 1 TB.
Browsing apps, communicating, taking pictures and recording videos, to playing games feels smooth on the Reno7 5G. The performance is so nimble. There were no glitches such as lagging during our testing. The convenience of increasing RAM up to 13 GB is also very useful for those who like multitasking by opening many applications at once.
We also had time to try playing some popular games using the OPPO Reno7 5G. Mobile Legends is definitely smooth without problems in the graphics settings stuck at 60 fps. PUBG Mobile can also be played comfortably in smooth-extreme settings. Genshin Impact medium settings can get around 30-40 fps.
What also deserves thumbs up is the cooling system. As long as we play games, including those that demand high graphics performance such as Genshin Impact, the OPPO Reno7 5G body does not experience a significant increase in temperature. Even holding it without a softcase, it’s only slightly warm. Excellent!
Turning to the power business, this smartphone is equipped with a 4,500 mAh battery. Not the most jumbo, but in our opinion it is quite fitting to keep the design slim. To be sure, ColorOS power management is again able to manage energy consumption efficiently. Using OPPO Reno7 5G as a daily driver from morning to night is easy. No need to be afraid of running out of battery in the middle of the road.
Even if you have to charge it, OPPO embeds 65W SuperVOOC technology which is capable of charging very quickly. From the battery condition below 10 percent to full 100 percent, we only need charging time for about 35-40 minutes!
Conclusion
The OPPO Reno7 5G has everything a semi-premium device needs. The design is stylish , the performance is agile, the camera is okay, the features are complete, and the charging capability is special. The actual formula has been used by OPPO since several previous Reno series.
Maybe there will be people who think the selling price is less competitive, or in other words, too expensive. In our opinion, as long as the experience it offers is able to meet the expectations of fans, the price of IDR 7,499,000 is definitely appropriate. For us, comparing one phone to another is not just a matter of which hardware is faster. But more to how the overall usage experience. If it’s fast but hot, of course it’s not fun, right?
