Panasonic officially announced the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-35mm F2.8 ASPH Power OIS lens. This lens is an updated version and will replace the Lumix GX Vario 12-35mm F2.8 II ASPH Power OIS lens which was launched in 2017.

Compact dimensions and light weight are the advantages of this lens. The body length is only about 73.8mm and weighs around 306 grams. The body design is also dust and splash resistant.
Offering a 24-70mm equivalent focal length on a full frame camera, this lens comes with a design of 14 elements in nine groups. This includes four aspherical lens elements, one Ultra Extra Low Dispersion (UED) lens element and one Ultra High Refractive Index (UHR) lens element. Not to forget, Panasonic has also added a Nano Surface layer to minimize the blurring effect and light reflection.
To ensure sharp image captures, there is support for the optical stabilizer feature (OIS). According to Panasonic , compared to the previous version, this new lens offers less focus breathing. Meanwhile, diaphragm control with micro-steps can provide smoother diaphragm ring adjustments. Very useful when shooting video.
