Ricoh announced the arrival of the Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome. Carrying a monochrome sensor, this camera can be an option for fans of black and white photos.
Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome Specifications
Cameras with monochrome sensors are nothing new. Previously, there was the Leica M-Monochrome which was the first digital rangefinder camera with a full-frame monochrome sensor. The Phase One manufacturer has also launched a medium format Achromatic camera system specifically for black and white photos.
However, for the DSLR segment, the K-3 Mark III Monochrome is the first. This camera comes with the same sensor as the standard Pentax K-3 Mark III , namely BSI CMOS APS-C with a resolution of 25.7 megapixels.

The difference is, the sensor is not equipped with a color filter. According to Ricoh, by removing the color filter this camera can offer a better level of image sharpness and tones.
To suit user needs, the Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome brings three Custom Image modes specifically designed for black and white photography. The three modes include Standard, Hard and Soft modes. Hard Mode can be selected to produce black and white photos with high contrast. Meanwhile, Soft Mode is for high-key black and white photos with low contrast. Interestingly, all of these modes can be adjusted tonal, contrast and sharpness levels according to the tastes of each user.

If you get bored taking pictures, the K-3 Mark III Monochrome can be used to record black and white video. In video mode, this camera supports video recording up to 4K/30p resolution.
Other features of this camera are two SD memory card slots, a 3.2-inch touch screen and a 101-point autofocus system.
Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome Price
The Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome will be available at the end of April 2023 for US$2199.95. More expensive US $200 than the standard version.
