The Playstation 5 ecosystem is getting more complete. Sony officially announced a new device, the Playstation Portal.

Playstation Portal Specifications

Before becoming the Playstation Portal, this device was introduced under the name Project Q last May. Even though it resembles a handheld console, Portal is just a device for playing games remotely or streaming. Not true handheld consoles like ROG Ally, Nintendo Switch, and AYA NEO.

To play games on this device, gamers must have a PS5. Games that can be played remotely must also be installed on the PS5. Most importantly, stable and fast WiFi connection support is indispensable for a smoother gaming experience anywhere.

Portal comes with an 8-inch screen. The screen can display images in Full HD 1080p 60 fps resolution. For a more optimal gaming experience, this device is equipped with a DualSense wireless controller similar to PS5 complete with Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers. In addition, there is also a 3.5mm audio jack for plugging in headphones. No Bluetooth connection so can’t connect to TWS or wireless gaming headsets.

Playstation Portal prices

This device will be available on the market at the end of 2023 at a price of US $ 199.99 or around 3 Million Rupiah.

First impression

With remote play capabilities, this device is perfect for gamers who have to share a TV at home. Hopefully, this device can be the beginning of the next generation of the popular Sony PSP handheld console.
