Qualcomm introduced the latest generation for their flagship mid-range chipset series, this time named Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. Both promise improved performance and more advanced AI.

Features of Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1

In a written statement received by Yang sophisticated, Tuesday (6/9), Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 integrates three ISPs that allow taking pictures from three cameras at once. In addition, users can take photos up to 108 MP and record videos with HDR support.

To support gaming, this chipset is equipped with 35 percent faster graphics rendering capabilities and 40 percent better processing than the previous generation. Even Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 supports HDR gaming at 60+ fps.

Qualcomm also embedded the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System, for 5G 3GPP Release 16 connectivity and the highest 5G download speed of up to 2.9 Gbps. Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 features 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E, another first technology brought to the Snapdragon 6 series.

While Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is the first 4-series chipset with 6nm fabrication. In addition to higher performance, power efficiency is also better. The platform has up to 15% improved CPU and up to 10% enhanced GPU compared to the previous generation.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 includes three ISPs and Multi-Frame Noise Reduction for sharp, detailed photos. Users can also take photos up to 108 MP. There is also a Qualcomm AI Engine to make the on-device experience smoother and more intuitive, Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF System for download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps, and FastConnect 6200 for 2×2 Wi-Fi.

Schedule availability

According to Qualcomm, Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 based devices are expected to be commercially available in Q1 2023, and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 based devices are expected to be commercially available in Q3 2022.
