Gaming laptops with 16-inch and 18-inch screen panels are the prima donna this year. Not wanting to miss this trend, Razer announced the Blade 16 and Blade 18 .

Features of the Razer Blade 16 and Blade 18

Both of these laptops appear identical. The dimensions are indeed different considering that the Blade 16 comes with a 16-inch screen and the Blade 18 uses an 18-inch screen. However, there are significant differences in the two screens. The Razer Blade 16 is the world’s first gaming laptop with a dual mode mini-LED display panel.

What’s special is that the screen provides two different modes, namely Gamer and Creator. In Gamer mode, the screen panel refresh rate can reach 240 Hz with Full HD+ resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. Meanwhile, in Creator mode, the screen refresh rate becomes 120 Hz with a higher screen resolution, namely 4K 3840 x 2400 pixels. In addition, this screen panel also supports a brightness level of 1000 nits, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage and a response time of 3 milliseconds.

It’s a shame that the Blade 18 doesn’t come with this innovative mini-LED display panel option. In addition to the Mini LED panel options, Razer still provides IPS panel options for Blade 16 and Blade 18. This panel offers QHD resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels 240 Hz, 500 nits brightness level, Nvidia G-Sync and supports 100% DCI-P3 color coverage.

The specifications for the two laptops are quite similar. Both will be powered by 13th Generation Intel Core processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards. The fastest specifications use a combination of Intel Core i9-13950HX and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card with a TGP of 175 Watts. Its performance is also supported by up to 64GB RAM and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage space. This storage space can still be upgraded up to 4TB capacity for Blade 16 and up to 8TB for Blade 18.

Other features include a webcam that supports Windows Hello, speakers with THX Spatial Audio features, and complete connectivity ports including HDMI 2.1 and Thunderbolt 4.

Price and availability

These two laptops will be available on the market in the first quarter of 2023. Prices for the Razer Blade 16 start at US$2700 and the Blade 18 starts at US$2900.
