Realme Pad Mini RMP2106 review

The 8-inch tablet is an attractive alternative for users who need an Android device for school or reading. The Realme Pad Mini RMP2106 is Realme’s first Android tablet in the Indonesian market.

Just like the first generation of realme phones, this tablet is present in the beginner class by relying on an affordable price. This realme Pad Mini comes in two configuration options, namely the 3GB RAM variant and 32GB internal memory at a price of USD $134 and the 4GB RAM variant and 64GB internal memory for USD $167 which we review for this review article .

Design looks expensive

Although the price is relatively affordable, the design of the realme Pad Mini still looks and feels luxurious when held. The sharp lines on the sides of the tablet give it a premium feel and remind us of the Apple iPad Mini which costs 3x the price. This is a surprising thing if you look at the price which is in the range of $135.

Our experience holding it while reading digital books or playing games is positive. Its weight of about 372 grams still feels light even when held in one hand, although not for long. What is a bit confusing is the position of the power button which is placed above the volume button. Usually the power button will be below the volume buttons. So this position change will potentially make the user often press the wrong button if they are not used to it.

The tablet body does not feel slippery even without using the case. The back of the body is easy to get dirty with fingerprints, but it’s also easy to clean. There are speakers on both short sides. So you have to be careful not to cover the speaker hole when holding it, for optimal sound output.

Adequate performance for the price

realme promises this tablet will be able to be invited to play games that are quite heavy. For information, the realme Pad Mini relies on the Unisoc T616 octa-core chipset supported by the Mali-G51 GPU.

Unisoc Tiger T616 uses 12nm fabrication and has eight cores with a composition of two 2GHz Cortex-A75 cores and six 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 cores. On paper, the specifications are on par with the MediaTek Helio G80 but with fewer features.

And it turns out to perform quite well. We tried to play Diablo Immortal and realme Pad Mini can run it quite smoothly. There are indeed a few moments when the game falters, but they’re not too distracting. There’s also a slight lag when running the app for the first time, but it’s not too much and it’s similar to a similarly priced phone. When fully working, this tablet is quite cool with a more pronounced hot area near the rear camera module.

The display quality is quite good when playing videos and playing games, although the screen still has a resolution below Full HD. Response to touch is also quite good for use in non-gaming applications. We were impressed with the sound from the built-in stereo speakers, which are loud and clear enough.

For battery life, realme Pad Mini can last up to about 10 hours with an active Wi-Fi connection. This is equivalent to a larger iPad.

realme Pad Mini has an 8 megapixel front camera which is quite good when used for selfies in ideal light conditions or when used for Zoom. There are even some camera features on the phone, such as Portrait Mode, Face Recognition and Bokeh Effect Control . The back camera of this tablet also has a resolution of 8 megapixels. Just don’t expect the results to be on par with a cell phone camera.

Nice cheap Android tablet

Your adventure of looking for an affordable but good quality Android tablet is over. Although the price is cheap, the realme Pad Mini turns out to be capable for various purposes such as playing games or work needs such as video conferencing and opening documents.

With the right expectations, this tablet will satisfy ordinary users who need a cheap but good quality tablet.

The advantages of realme Pad Mini RMP2106

  • The design looks more expensive than the price
  • Pretty good performance, for the price
  • Long battery life
  • Loud and quite clear stereo speakers
  • The front camera is quite good for video conferencing purposes
  • Very attractive price

Disadvantages of realme Pad Mini RMP2106

  • Slight hiccups when playing games or running apps for the first time
  • There is a slight lag when interacting with menus and navigating apps
  • The rear camera is only complementary, with poor results indoors

Who is suitable for using realme Pad Mini RMP2106

Students and students

If you don’t need a tablet that has high performance or a screen measuring above 8 inches, students and students will be suitable to use this tablet.

Gamer

For users who like to play casual games, the realme Pad Mini RMP2106 will be suitable. But for serious gamers, the performance and resolution of this tablet screen will feel lacking.

Bookworm

Book enthusiasts who need an affordable tablet to read their book collections will love the lightweight and comfortable realme Pad Mini RMP2106. Comic fans will also be more suited to using this tablet, rather than having to read on a smaller phone screen.

Korean drama and movie lover

The screen resolution of this tablet which is below Full HD will not be noticeable when viewed from a distance of about 50cm. Supported by stereo speakers that are loud and clear enough in landscape mode (wide), watching Korean movies or dramas on this tablet turns out to be quite exciting.
