RED Camera announced the arrival of the V-Raptor XL 8K VV . This latest video camera brings a new body design with more complete connectivity ports.

Features of RED V-Raptor XL 8K VV

The RED V-Raptor XL 8K VV comes with an 8K Vista Vision (VV) CMOS sensor. This sensor is the same as the standard version of the RED V-Raptor camera. The Vista Vision sensor has dimensions of 40.96mm x 21.60mm. The sensor size is the largest among all RED camera sensors. In addition, the sensor is also 1.4% percent larger than the typical full frame CMOS sensor measuring 36mm x 24mm.

According to RED, the Vista Vision sensor is capable of offering a dynamic range of up to 17+ Stops. The RED V-Raptor XL 8K VV also supports video recording in 6K Super35 mode and features an integrated electronic ND filter system. Right in front of the sensor RED mounts a PL-mount with the option of an EF-mount adapter if needed.

In the connectivity sector, the RED V-Raptor XL 8K VV has been equipped with three 12G-SDI ports, USB-C, genlock port, control port, gigabit ethernet, and audio input/output. This camera is also supported by three power port options including 19.5-34V DC input, 12V input, and 24V input. Other features include wireless and genlok timecode features to support remote video production flows. With its more complete connectivity ports, the RED V-Raptor XL 8K VV will be ideal for large-scale production flows.

Price RED V-Raptor XL 8K VV

Like other RED camera products, the price of the RED V-Raptor XL 8K VV is not cheap. The pre-order price for the RED V-Raptor XL 8K VV is US$39,500. RED provides two battery options namely V-mount and Gold Mount. For an additional US$10,495 users can also take home the full package including a 7-inch touch-enabled monitor, four batteries, dual chargers, two CFEXpress 2TB RED Pro memory cards, one memory card reader and rig kit.
