Extremely Compact and Lightweight Portable Projector for Productivity and Entertainment

In last August, PT. Datascrip launches the Canon MP250 portable projector. In addition to promoting compact dimensions, this projector also brings a series of interesting features. Curious how the Canon MP250 can do? Check out his review as follows.

Canon MP250 Dimensi Dimensions

Canon MP250 comes with dimensions that are very compact and lightweight. The dimensions of the body are 12 x 12 x 3.3 cm. It weighs about 407 grams only. Very space-saving on the table. You can also easily take it with you on a trip.

On the right side of the body can be found the power button, on / off button, microSD slot and a rotating wheel to adjust the focus. Meanwhile, on the back you can find two USB ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, an HDMI port and a DC in for power supply.

One uniqueness of the Canon MP250 is the Smart Touchpad at the top of the body. Through the swipe of a finger this touchpad area can function for navigation. Similar to the touchpad on a laptop. The response with the fingers is very good. The touchpad can also support two-finger input for zooming and scrolling functions. Volume settings can also be done via this touchpad.

Canon also equips it with a mounting hole for a tripod that can be found at the bottom of the body. That way, users can also attach it to a mini tripod.

Canon MP250 . Features

In addition to the touchpad mouse, another feature that this projector offers is an integrated speaker with a 2.5W output. The sound quality is quite good and powerful. It is ideal for enjoying multimedia content such as listening to music or watching movies.

Another interesting feature is the support for the auto keystone feature. This feature can automatically correct vertical distortion or rotate the displayed image. So, placed at any angle the visual appearance on the wall will not be tilted or distorted.

For setting the focus or sharpness of the image is still not automatic. The settings can be accessed via the rotating wheel on the right side of the body.

The storage space on this projector has available internal memory with a capacity of 4GB. If not, there is still a microSD slot that can be inserted with a microSD memory card up to 32GB to increase the storage space.

Another Canon MP250 feature is that users can also directly play multimedia content or open files such as documents from a flash drive. This feature can be accessed by plugging the flash drive into one of the USB ports it carries.

Through the USB port that it carries, users can also add external inputs such as keyboards and mice. Bluetooth connectivity is also supported to make it easier to connect to other devices wirelessly. In addition, there is WiFi support that allows this projector to connect to a network for internet access.

Canon MP250 . Performance

Like other portable projectors Canon MP250 is also very easy to use. Connecting this device to a WiFi network at home can also be done in no time.

To carry out all its functions, the Canon MP250 is powered by a 1.5GHz Quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the operating system runs Android OS 7.1.2. The Android system does not yet support Google Services. So, you will not find the Google Play Store app store. Various applications that rely on Google Service services also cannot be run.

An alternative to the play store for adding applications can rely on third-party application stores such as APKPure. Other applications that are also available are FileExplorer to make searching and managing files easier, Gallery, Browser, Calculator, AirPlay, Music, Mirroring, Settings, and WPS Office. We are also trying to add popular video streaming apps today like Netflix and some other apps. However, unfortunately there are some applications that cannot be run due to the absence of Google Service services or applications that no longer support Android 7.1 OS.

Although running the Android operating system, the Canon MP250 interface does not use the standard Android OS interface. Canon presents its own design interface with tiles style . Some of the main applications can be directly found on the front page. So, it can be accessed more quickly. You can also add other applications on the home page which will be neatly arranged under the main tiles .

Apart from the limitations of the Android OS, the overall performance of this projector is quite satisfactory. The LED lamp with a brightness level of up to 250 lumens is very bright for a portable projector.

This projector can display images up to 93 inches in size from a distance of 3 meters. So, even though portable is not included in the category of short throw projectors or short distances that can display large images from very close distances.

Our tests were done by playing multimedia content from a flash. Canon MP250 can play video content up to 4K resolution. However, the output image is displayed on the wall at a resolution of 854 x 480 only. The level of image sharpness and color is very good for a portable projector.

Thanks to the WiFi connection we can also connect the Canon MP250 to an Android device. When connected to an Android smartphone you can immediately take advantage of the mirroring feature to share screens. Meanwhile, thanks to the AirPlay feature you can also share screens from iOS devices. It is also possible to connect to other devices such as PCs or laptops via a wireless connection or HDMI port.

Canon MP250 . Battery

Canon MP250 is powered by a battery with a capacity of 3100 mAH. This battery can be used for up to 2 hours with maximum brightness. Reliable enough to support short presentations while outside the office.

For multimedia needs, when trying to watch movies the battery is almost exhausted to play 2 hours of movie content. We recommend using the power adapter as a power source if you are using it to enjoy multimedia content. One plus, this battery can be recharged using a power bank.

Canon MP250 price

The very compact dimensions and light weight are undeniably the main advantages of this projector. Even so, the Canon MP250 is not stingy with connectivity and supports a variety of input / output. The presence of a touchpad on the top of the body also makes navigation easier.

One drawback is that the Android operating system does not yet support Google Services. But, in practice the Canon MP250 can still carry out its main function as a portable projector that is easy to carry around. Moreover, the battery can also be recharged with a power bank. With a selling price of around 6 million Rupiah, this projector can be chosen for users who need a compact and lightweight projector to support productivity such as presentations or enjoying cinema-style entertainment content anywhere.

Canon MP250 is suitable for:

Office workers: Thanks to its extremely compact dimensions this projector can be relied on for presentations anywhere. The connectivity port is also complete. So, it can be connected to a laptop via physical connectivity or wirelessly.

Multimedia connoisseurs: With a brightness level of 250 nits, can play content up to 4K resolution and speakers, the Canon MP250 can be relied upon as a home entertainment suggestion.

The advantages of the Canon MP250:
– Dimensions are very compact and light
– Easy to use
– Complete connectivity
– Supports Android applications
– Equipped with a Touchpad for navigation
– The speaker is quite powerful
– Auto Keystone feature
– The brightness level is quite high
– The battery can be recharged via a power bank

Disadvantages of Canon MP250:
– There is no Zoom feature
– The Android operating system is quite old
– Not equipped with a remote
