Dell Inspiron 15 5510 design
Modern and minimalist. That was our first impression when we encountered this laptop. The premium impression is also increasingly prominent with the aluminum chassis material which is coated in Platinum Silver.

Its slim body design is only 17.99 mm thick. Meanwhile, its weight is only about 1.63 kg. Including thin and light for a laptop in the 15-inch class. It is ideal for users with high mobility.

Even though the body design is thin, the connectivity port it carries is also quite complete. On this laptop, Dell still provides an HDMI 1.4 port and an SD memory card slot is available. One added value we can find a Thunderbolt 4 port with DisplayPort and PowerDelivery functions. So, it can be relied on for productivity for those who like multitasking using one or two additional monitors.
Brilliant screen
The Inspiron 15 5510 carries a 15.6-inch WVA screen panel with Full HD resolution. The screen looks modern with a fairly thin screen frame. The screen panel to body ratio reaches 84.57%. This makes the viewing area on the screen quite wide. Very comfortable to use for work or enjoy multimedia content.

With Full HD resolution, the display on the screen looks sharp with brilliant colors. Dell also pinned the CinemaColor feature to boost the screen performance. This feature offers four preset screen settings namely Movie, ComfortView, Sport, and Animation. Each mode offers different levels of color saturation, temperature and contrast.
For our daily use, which mostly types and watches content on Youtube, Movie mode is very easy on the eyes. The good news is, if these preset options don’t suit your eyes, Dell still allows the saturation, temperature and contrast settings for each of these presets to suit the user’s taste.
Comfortable backlit keyboard
Shifting to the keyboard area of this laptop brings a full size keyboard with a chiklet style. The size of each button is quite large and not too flush with the body. So, it’s comfortable to type and doesn’t tire your hands quickly.

To support typing activities in dim conditions, the keyboard is equipped with a backlit lamp. In the keyboard area, you can also find a fingerprint sensor for security in the top right corner.

At the bottom of the keyboard you can find the touchpad area which is quite wide. The touchpad is very responsive to the touch of a finger and supports multi-touch gesture features. One drawback is that the right-click area at the bottom of the touchpad feels a bit hard when pressed.
Fast performance with Intel Core H-Series

Dell Inspiron 15 5510 is available with two processor configurations. Using Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7. The unit that we are reviewing below uses an Intel Core i7-11390H processor. The processor is supported by 16GB of RAM and roomy storage space with a capacity of up to 1TB. Following are the benchmark results for the Dell Inspiron 15 5510.

It cannot be denied that laptops with 11th Generation Intel Core processors in 2023 are indeed a bit behind. Considering that most laptops available on the market now use the 12th Generation Intel Core processors and the 13th Generation Intel Core will be available in the near future.
But, overall the performance of the Intel Core i7-11390H is still very reliable. Sufficient to support daily productivity such as running office applications, browsing and video conferencing. Its overall performance feels very rushed and almost without lag. Even though it is not equipped with a discrete graphics card, the performance of the Intel Iris Xe graphics card it carries is still sufficient to support simple photo or video editing, light gaming to enjoy multimedia content at 4K resolution.

For thermal management, Dell provides four performance setting options that can be accessed via the My Dell application. Among them Cool, Optimized, Quiet and Ultra Performance. In Optimized mode or standard, the cooling fan performance will automatically be adjusted according to the computing load. From our tests this mode is sufficient for daily use. The performance of the cooling fan is relatively quiet and effectively maintains the laptop’s temperature so it doesn’t heat up quickly.

Battery life is sufficient for daily use
This laptop carries a battery with a capacity of 54Wh. To test battery life, we turned on Windows Battery Saver mode, disabled the location and bluetooth features, optimized thermal mode, set the screen brightness level to 30%, connected to Wifi and didn’t turn on the backlit keyboard. With these settings for typing documents, browsing and occasionally watching Youtube videos at Full HD resolution we can get up to about 8 hours of usage time. Battery life is not the best. However, this needs to be understood considering that Dell has embedded a very powerful Intel H-Series processor.
Conclusion
For a Dell Inspiron 15 5510 productivity laptop, you can definitely rely on it. The large screen and full size keyboard it carries are very comfortable to use. Even though it is powered by an 11th Generation Intel Core processor and is not equipped with a discrete graphics card, its performance still feels fast in 2023.
One added value of this laptop is supported by 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage space which is very roomy. Apart from gaming laptops, it is quite rare to find a 15-inch laptop powered by an Intel Core H-Series processor with RAM and SSD of the Inspiron 15 5510.
As a result, the selling price of this laptop is classified as premium. It’s in the range of USD $1.103. Making it a tough competition with mainstream class 15.6-inch gaming laptops. If you don’t mind the price, this laptop is a must-consider for anyone who needs a fast 15.6-inch laptop in a thin and light design for everyday productivity.
