Not all laptops are equipped with a quality webcam. Even though the webcam is currently one of the mandatory devices to support video conferencing. As a solution Dell released the Pro 2K Webcam . Curious how the ability of this webcam? Check out his review as follows.

Compact design

The Pro 2K Webcam comes with a cylindrical design. It looks minimalist. The dimensions are also compact. So, it can easily fit into a bag to accompany work anywhere. The design is similar to the Dell Ultrasharp 4K Webcam .

On the body can be found mounting clips or support legs with a folding style. To attach to the top of the monitor only need to unfold it. This mechanism allows the Pro 2K Webcam to attach to a laptop screen or monitor more easily.

The mounting clip is also added with rubber. The advantage when installed will be more rigid and not prone to slipping. In addition, you also don’t have to worry about the screen panel or monitor being scratched. One plus point is that this mounting clip is equipped with a hole so that it can be attached to a tripod. Shifts to the lens area, to protect the lens and privacy Dell provides a cap with a magnetic system.

Very easy to use

To use it is also very easy. The Dell Pro 2K Webcam is plug-and-play style. So, after plugging it into the USB-A port, this webcam can be used immediately. No need to install drivers anymore.

We think it would be better if Dell included a USB-A to USB-C adapter. This is because today’s thin and light laptops are generally only equipped with a USB-C port.

Pro 2K Webcam is compatible with Windows 11 or Windows 10 64 Bit and MacOS operating systems. This webcam is certified by Microsoft Teams and Zoom. So, it is fully compatible with both video conferencing applications. Other supported applications include Skype for Business, Google Hangouts, Cisco Webex, FaceTime, Slack, GoToMeeting, BlueJeans, Google Meet, and Lifesize. In addition to all these applications from our tests the Dell Pro 2K Webcam can also be compatible with the OBS Studio application. So, it can be relied on to create vlog content or live broadcasts.

When we tried to use it with Google Meet the image resolution could only be maximum up to HD resolution. To enjoy all its potential and features, Dell includes a supporting application, namely Dell Peripheral manager.

Through this application, users can choose presets, resolutions, adjust viewing angles, zoom, HDR to standard camera settings such as brightness, contrast, saturation and much more. In this application, the AI Auto Framing feature is also available to ensure your face is always in the frame.

Good picture quality

The Dell Pro 2K Webcam relies on a Sony Starvis sensor. This sensor can capture images in 2K QHD resolution at 24 or 30 fps. Meanwhile, if the resolution is lowered to Full HD 1080p or HD 720p, it can record at 24, 30, and 60 fps. In front of the sensor, Dell embeds a wide-angle lens with an aperture of F2.0. This lens offers 65 and 78 degree angle of view coverage options.

From our tests the image quality is quite good. The image looks sharp. Even if the light in the room is not too bright. This is thanks to the support of the smart Auto Light Correction feature that it brings.

Dell also accompanies it with a Digital Zoom feature up to 4X. This feature can indeed enlarge the image. However, the risk is that the image quality will look less sharp. The screenshots from the Dell Pro 2K Webcam are as follows.

Another interesting feature Dell Pro 2K Webcam is equipped with an integrated microphone. The microphone is also equipped with a Noise Reduction feature to reduce noise from the surrounding environment.

Conclusion

Compact design, good image quality and very easy to use are the advantages of this webcam. From our tests, the Dell Pro 2K Webcam can indeed be considered to replace the laptop’s default webcam. Or, it could be a solution for anyone who wants to start creating content like vlogs or live broadcasts. Of course, if you don’t mind the selling price, which is in the range of US $ 134.99 or around 2 million Rupiah.

Advantages of Dell Pro 2K Webcam:
+ Sharp image quality + Supports a range
of smart features + Built-in
microphone
+ Flexible Mounting Clip
+ Compatible with various operating systems and video conferencing applications
+ Cable is quite long

Disadvantages of Dell Pro 2K Webcam:
– Digital Zoom feature is less useful
– Doesn’t come with a USB-A to USB-C adapter
