As Lenovo’s first gaming laptop with a 16-inch screen panel, the Legion 5 Pro is indeed very tempting. Moreover, Lenovo is now also presenting the Legion 5i Pro. This laptop is a Legion 5 Pro version with an Intel processor. Another specialty, the Legion 5i Pro is also the first Legion gaming laptop with a very beautiful white body (Stingray White). Curious how the Legion 5i Pro performs? Check out his review as follows.

Lenovo Legion 5i Pro Design

The Legion 5i Pro and Legion 5 Pro come with the same design. The difference between the two is only in body color. Fortunately, the white coating on the body is not easily dirty. Even so, it is better to keep cleaning it so that it always looks beautiful.

Even though they carry the same body design, if you look closely at the Legion 5i Pro and Legion 5 Pro, there are still differences. This can be seen in the connectivity port. The Legion 5i Pro is equipped with two Thunderbolt 4 ports. This port is absent on the Legion 5 Pro.

Lenovo Legion 5i Pro screen

The Legion 5i Pro carries a 16-inch IPS display panel. The screen panel offers a 16:10 aspect ratio. So, the viewing area is wider when compared to the standard 16:9 screen. Meanwhile, for gaming, the screen panel also supports a 165 Hz refresh rate.

The screen resolution is 2K 2560 x 1600 pixels. It is ideal for enjoying high-resolution content. Display on the screen looks very sharp. Admittedly, this screen is very pleasing to the eye. With a standard 100% sRGB color coverage and has been calibrated to the X-Rite standard from Pantone, the screen can be relied on for content creation.

The screen is also not abstinent in very bright lighting conditions. The maximum screen brightness is 500 nits. In addition, the display panel supports Dolby Vision, HDR 400, Free-Sync and G-Sync.

Keyboard Lenovo Legion 5i Pro

The Legion 5i Pro and Legion 5 Pro keyboards carry the same Legion TrueStrike keyboard and trackpad. This keyboard is very responsive with 100% anti-ghosting feature. Very comfortable to use for playing games or typing. The difference is, the Legion 5i Pro brings backlit lights with blue lighting. Not RGB backlit lights like the Legion 5 Pro.

Audio Lenovo Legion 5i Pro

In the audio sector, the Legion 5 Pro brings 2x2W speakers. The speaker quality is similar to the Legion 5 Pro. Pretty clear but a little underpowered. To boost sound performance, the Nahimic Audio 3D feature is available. This feature provides a variety of sound setting mode and effect options.

More detailed reviews of the design and other features of the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro can be seen in the following Legion 5 Pro review .

Lenovo Legion 5i Pro Performance

The main difference between the Legion 5i Pro and the Legion 5 Pro is in the specifications sector. The Legion 5i Pro we review below comes with an Intel Core i7-11800H processor and a 6GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. The RAM it carries is 16GB. If there is not enough RAM, it can be increased up to 32GB.

For storage space, it uses a 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0×4 NVMe SSD. Spacious enough to accommodate all the games and multimedia content that is getting bigger and space-consuming. SSD performance is also fast. It is also possible to increase the storage space through a spare M.2 SSD slot. The Legion 5i Pro benchmark results are as follows.

From our tests, the Legion 5i Pro specifications are as fast as the Legion 5 Pro which uses an AMD Ryzen processor. Various computing needs from light to heavy, such as photo and video editing, can be handled smoothly without any problems. The gaming performance is also satisfactory.

Some AAA game titles from Cyberpunk 2077, Shadow Of Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition at right-aligned graphics settings can still get an average framerate in the range of 40-60 fps at Full HD resolution. If you play at 2K resolution, it’s best if the graphics settings and other effect options are set to medium settings to get a higher fps.

Legion 5i Pro cooling system

The Legion 5i Pro features the third generation Legion Coldfront cooling technology. The cooling system is quite capable to keep the system performance stable when at maximum performance. The warm feeling in the keyboard surface area is still quite pronounced. However, it doesn’t interfere with the overall gaming experience. The performance of the cooling fan also sounds a bit noisy in thermal performance mode. For a quieter and cooler experience, gamers can choose quiet or balance mode. This mode can be accessed via the FN+Q hotkey or via Lenovo Vantage.

Legion 5i Pro Battery

Battery life is also average. For non-gaming use, we use the Quiet mode setting, power saver, hybrid mode on, and turn off the Always On USB Charge feature. Then, we also don’t turn on the Bluetooth connection, Location and backlit keyboard. The screen brightness level is set to 30%.

With these settings for browsing and typing documents in office applications, we can get up to almost 5 hours of usage time. Pretty similar to the Legion 5 Pro we tested earlier. Like other Legion variants, the battery also supports the Rapid Charge feature to shorten the recharge time of the battery.

Conclusion

With its white body, the Legion 5i Pro does provide a refresher in the gaming laptop segment which is dominated by dark colored laptops. This makes it also a gaming laptop option for female gamers.

Performance is also fast. Very reliable for gaming and content creation. If you don’t mind the selling price, which is around 28 million Rupiah, we highly recommend Legion 5i Pro for gamers or content creators who want to be different.

Legion 5 Pro is suitable for:

Gamers : Fast performance and a 16-inch 2K display make it very reliable for AAA games.
Female Gamers : Its white body and white backlit lights make it look very beautiful.
Creator content : Accurate display with 100% sRGB color coverage standard makes it perfect for content creation such as photo and video editing.

+ Beautiful white body color
+ Not easy to get dirty

+ 16 inch 165 Hz 2K display
+ Accurate screen colors and equipped with X-Rite Color Assistant for color calibration
+ Large SSD capacity and still expandable

– Not equipped with a fingerprint sensor or IR Camera
– Maximum performance is a bit hot
– Battery is a bit wasteful
– Cooling fan is a bit noisy
