Since the emergence of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, Lenovo has managed to raise the bar for business laptops. Not only very thin and light, this laptop is also very tough. Once again, Lenovo’s ability to design business laptops is again proven by the ThinkPad X1 Nano. Intrigued by the abilities of this laptop? Check out the reviews as follows.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano design

The all-black minimalist design that is typical of the classic ThinkPad is still its flagship. The difference is, the ThinkPad X1 Nano now appears slimmer and lighter. Even the dimensions managed to overtake his own brother ThinkPad X1 Carbon.

In total, the ThinkPad X1 Nano weighs only 0.9 kg. Lightest among all ThinkPad business laptops. It is ideal for business people who are highly mobile and often work outdoors. Its compact dimensions will also be very economical in the bag. As a business laptop, the design is also tough according to military standards.

It carries only two connectivity ports. Just like most thin and light laptops. On the left side of the body, you can find a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 4 accompanied by a 3.5mm audio jack. This port can be used to recharge the battery and Display Port 1.4a to connect to an external monitor. In the sales package, Lenovo also includes an adapter port for additional connectivity.

Overall the body design is almost perfect by combining carbon fiber material on the top of the body and magnesium. Feels very solid and sturdy. The only drawback that we encountered was that the upper surface of the body was prone to getting dirty with fingerprints. So, it must be kept clean often.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano display

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano comes with a 13-inch IPS display panel with a resolution of 2K 2160 x 1350 pixels. Supporting the sRGB color standard 100%, this display panel is very indulgent with a level of sharpness and brilliant colors. It is ideal for supporting productivity or enjoying multimedia content. With a screen brightness level of 400 nits the screen panel is also not abstinence in very bright lighting conditions. The screen hinge is also designed to be fully opened up to 180 degrees flat on the table. So it is quite effective in minimizing the risk of broken screen hinges when it is accidentally fully opened.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Keyboard

Shifting to the ThinkPad X1 Nano keyboard area brings the typical ThinkPad chicklet and red dot-style keyboard. Indeed, the size is more compact to adjust the dimensions of the body.

Fortunately, the typing experience with the keyboard remains very comfortable. Although it needs a little adjustment considering the distance between the buttons is closer together. We can still type fast and our fingers don’t get sore easily. A backlit keyboard is also available to support use in dim conditions.

In the touchpad mouse area, the left and right mouse buttons are still the same as other ThinkPads. Very comfortable to press. The size of the touchpad is quite large and the response with a finger touch is also very good.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Features

As a business laptop, a series of features that prioritize security and privacy are also found on this laptop. Call it like a fingerprint sensor, Lenovo ThinkShutter to protect privacy when the webcam is not in use and an IR Camera with Windows Hello support that allows you to log in with face detection. IR camera performance is also very responsive. Face detection can be done very briefly to unlock the safety lock.

The privacy features of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano are also supported by artificial intelligence that can be accessed via the Glance by Mirametrix application. For privacy protection in Glance, the Privacy Guard and Privacy Alert features are available.

Privacy Guard will automatically make the screen display blurry or blurry when its smart infrared camera detects the presence of other people peeking at the screen. Then, the Privacy Alert will immediately notify the user when the screen is being peeked at.

Glance also provides Windows Snap and Smart Pointer features. This feature is useful for moving the position of the running application window and the mouse cursor from the laptop screen to the external monitor by simply looking. Ideal for users who frequently work with external monitors. Then, the Smart Display feature will automatically blur the screen when the user is not facing the screen.

Then, through Digital Wellness you can also see the screen time or time to use this laptop. There is also a Posture Warning option which will send a notification to the user if the posture is incorrect while using a laptop. These features are quite important to support the work from home lifestyle which is currently trending.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano performance

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano that we received comes with an 11th Generation Intel Core processor, Intel Core i7-1160G7, 16GB RAM and storage space with an M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0x 4 NVMe SSD which has a very large capacity of 1TB. These specifications are in accordance with the Intel EVO standard. However, there is no upgrade option for the specifications. We can understand considering that the body design is very thin and light. For the results of this laptop benchmark as follows.

For everyday testing, these specifications feel very tight. Running productivity applications like Office and browsing is definitely more than enough. Multitasking running several applications while doing video conferencing is very smooth and without lag. Thermal management is also quite good. Even though the design is very thin, this laptop does not heat up quickly for long term use.

In the graphics sector, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano is supported by the Intel Xe graphics chip. The graphics sector is indeed quite powerful. Editing photos and videos at high resolution is still qualified. Even playing games is still possible. However, it should be noted that the ThinkPad X1 Nano is actually a business laptop and not for creative or gaming content.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano battery

Then what about the durability of the battery? ThinkPad X1 Nano is one of the laptops that has managed to enter the Intel EVO standard. So, there is no need to doubt the durability of the battery. From our tests, for standard use typing and browsing with a screen brightness level of 50% percent, connecting to WiFi, activating the power saver mode, deactivating the location feature, bluetooth and without the active backlight the battery can last up to almost 11 hours. More than enough to accompany your daily work activities without the hassle of carrying a charger.

Conclusion Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano

Bringing all the advantages of ThinkPad in a form that is more compact and lightweight, ThinkPad X1 Nano is a must for business people to look at. The business features it carries are quite complete, including a line of intelligent business-class security features based on AI. That way, the ThinkPad X1 Nano offers a maximum usage experience among other business laptops in its class. Its powerful performance and very long battery life are also its advantages. If you don’t mind the selling price, which is in the range starting from USD $1,879, we highly recommend ThinkPad X1 Nano for those of you who are eyeing a compact business laptop with complete safety features and a long battery life for productivity anytime and anywhere.
