The MSI Stealth GS77 is one of the most popular gaming laptops, which is not only ideal for hardcore gamers but also working professionals and content creators. No half-hearted, MSI buried a series of super fast hardware in the device.

Curious as to what his abilities are? Come on, just take a look at Yangcangguh.com’s review for the MSI Stealth GS77.

17-inch gaming laptop with solid build quality

In terms of design, the MSI Stealth GS77 looks quite stylish and elegant with the dominance of matte black color all over its body. The gaming feel is not too overwhelming. The MSI logo engraved on the back of the screen is also made to match the overall color.

MSI uses a chassis made from aluminum alloy with a very solid design quality. None of the parts on the laptop feel cheap. Naturally, Stealth GS77 is a premium series that requires you to spend so deep to ask for her hand.

This laptop carries a Zinc Alloy hinge that is sturdy but light enough, and a larger touchpad. The hinge that can be rotated up to about 130 degrees is claimed to offer tougher durability. Opening the screen with one hand is quite easy.

If the previous generation tried to present a slimmer body, the Stealth GS77 is actually slightly thicker and heavier. However, MSI’s decision to overhaul the body may not be without reason. With very fast hardware, thin laptops are usually more prone to heat.

The MSI Stealth GS77 has a thickness of approximately 20.8mm and a weight of 2.8 kilograms. Although not thinner than its predecessor, it is still quite portable for a 17-inch gaming laptop. In terms of airflow, it is better to maintain the temperature. MSI relies on the Coolor Boost 5 cooling system. In total there are 2 fans and 6 heat-pipes that work to reduce heat.

One thing we note is the finishing. As far as testing, we assess the body of this laptop rather easily dirty by finger marks. It’s a solid black, but our fingerprints are easy to spot here and there.

Regarding port availability, on the back you will find an AC adapter, HDMI 2.1, and RJ-45. The placement of several important ports at the back like this will make it easier for you when managing cables, so it doesn’t interfere with the neatness of the table.

On the right are SD Card Readers USB-C 3.2 (Display Port), and USB-C 3.2 (Thunderbolt 4, PD, DP). While on the left side, there are 2x USB-A 3.2, 3.5mm audio jack, and a switch for the webcam. For wireless connectivity, you are presented with Intel Killer AX WiFi 6E technology and Bluetooth 5.2. The default adapter is 240W.

Screen, audio and keyboard

The MSI Stealth GS77 is equipped with a 17.3-inch IPS-Level display with 4K (3840×2160) resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 100 percent AdobeRGB. Besides being fun for playing games, this screen is also quite adequate for jobs that require good color accuracy, or entertainment purposes such as watching movies. You can also change screen settings via MSI Center, for example from AdobeRGB to sRGB or to Gamer mode.

Moreover, MSI provides Dynaudio concoction speakers, which consist of two speakers and four woofers. The audio quality is commendable. In addition to being loud and clear, the bass or low frequencies sound quite powerful. Watching movies or listening to music will be more fun even without headphones.

Moving on to the keyboard, the Stealth GS77 comes with a per-key RGB gaming keyboard from SteelSeries. The design is full-sized and is equipped with a numpad. For us, the sensation of pressing the button feels solid with the right tactile. No significant complaints while using it for playing games or typing.

Just above the screen you’ll also find a 1080p 30fps webcam.

Super fast performance

The MSI Stealth GS77 laptop sold in Indonesia is equipped with an Intel Corei i9 -12900H processor, with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GDDR6 16 GB (105W) GPU. Even more tempting, this laptop is directly embedded with 64GB 4800MHz DDR5 RAM (dual-channel 2x32GB), as well as a 2TB PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD.

The combination of the above hardware certainly promises super fast performance for various needs such as FHD gaming, 1440p gaming, or even 4K gaming, as well as work that demands high performance such as 3D rendering or 4K video editing.

MSI Center software allows you to easily access various settings. There is a Super Battery mode if you want to save power consumption, Silent mode with a quiet fan, Balanced mode for a balance between performance and battery, and Extreme Performance for maximum performance. You can also enable Smart Auto for automatic settings.

We also had time to test the MSI Stealth GS77’s gaming capabilities by playing several popular titles. Check out the test results below:

1. Shadow of the Tomb Raider

In our SOTR game using 4K resolution with Nvidia RTX DLSS in Balanced (V-Sync off). We deliberately run it in 4K to immediately boost the hardware capabilities. The Texture Quality setting is Ultra, Texture Filtering 8x Anisotropic, and Ray Tracing Medium. The result, the average obtained is 58 FPS.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2

We also run RDR2 in 4K with dominant graphics settings in Ultra and High. The results are quite satisfactory, the game can get benchmark results with an average of 52 FPS.

3. Forza Horizon 5

At 4K resolution with Balanced resolution scaling, Forza Horizon 5 was able to get an average of 57 FPS. Extreme graphics settings. Just like other games, if you want a higher frame rate, just lower the resolution to Full HD. The result with Extreme settings, games can run at 70-80s FPS.

4. Metro Exodus Enhaced Edition

We run the benchmarks of this first-person shooter game with 4K resolution, High graphics settings, Tesselation Full, Ray Tracing Normal, and DLSS Balanced. As a result, Metro Exodus Enhaced Edition gets an average of 54 FPS.

5. Assessing

Valorant is a very light game for the size of the hardware owned by the MSI Stealth GS77. In order to get the highest frame rate, we played it in Full HD resolution with the graphics settings stuck on the right. The result can be up to 280-300s FPS.

During gaming, a fairly high temperature rise is felt at the top of the keyboard. Even so, the keyboard area is still warm so it doesn’t really interfere with playing comfort. The fan is still a little quieter than most other gaming laptops in tough working conditions.

Conclusion

The MSI Stealth GS77 deserves to be a dream laptop for every gamer and professional worker in Indonesia who needs a device with super fast performance. One thing to know, this is an expensive laptop. For those who are interested, you must spend USD $4,705.
