Review of Infinix Hot 20 5G

Infinix Hot 20 5G is one of the most affordable Dimensity 810 5G phones you can buy. The price is not quite cheap, but offers a series of features that can be considered quite tempting in its class.

Curious as to what the capabilities of this device? Come on, just look at our review!

Typical design of cell phones

Hot 20 5G appears with a typical mobile phone design. Nothing special, and still presents two typical Infinix finishing patterns on the back cover. The top part which is close to the camera is made glossy and full of glitter, while the bottom part is added with a vertical line pattern.

Even though the design is fairly standard, in our opinion the build quality is quite good and solid. The body is also quite comfortable to hold, although it’s not the thinnest with a thickness of 8.93mm. It’s a bit bulky and will feel even bigger when paired with the default softcase.

What we note is that this phone is easily soiled by fingerprints. Its weight reaches 204 grams. For some people, the combination of a wide body and a fair amount of weight might not be too comfortable when put in a trouser pocket.

On the front you will find a 6.6-inch screen with minimalist waterdrop-style bangs. While below there is a USB-C port, 3.5mm audio jack port, mic, and speaker holes. The fingerprint sensor is on the side, together with the power button.

Infinix Hot 20 5G has two nano SIM-card slots and a dedicated slot for microSD. In the package you also immediately get an 18W charger. Just additional information, this phone is supported by NFC.

120Hz display

How many cellphones under USD $160 have 120Hz screens? We bet it’s pretty rare. Infinix Hot 20 5G is one that has this offer. Infinix calls it the HyperVision Gaming-Pro Display.

This screen has Full HD+ resolution. The panel is still IPS measuring 6.6 inches. Not yet AMOLED, but quite reasonable in its price class. Moreover, you have been presented with a high refresh rate. The brightness level is quite good and is still ideal for outdoor use.

Unfortunately, on the unit we reviewed, the adaptive brightness sensor is often slow in adjusting the screen brightness. So when we move locations and need a brighter screen, the screen doesn’t adapt right away and we have to adjust it manually. I don’t know if this happens to all Hot 20 5G, or if it’s just our unit that has the problem.

One more drawback that we found, it turns out that the screen of this cellphone is not Widevine L1. This means you can’t watch in HD quality from streaming services like Netflix.

50MP camera

Infinix embeds a 50 MP main camera on the back and is accompanied by another camera, which unfortunately doesn’t explain what its function is. Maybe just to complement it. While on the front, there is an 8 MP selfie camera.

The results cannot be called special, but they are sufficient to simply capture everyday moments, especially in ideal light conditions. The photos presented look sharp enough with the colors slightly lifted to make it look more appetizing. Standard dynamic range only, even though it has activated HDR mode.

Photos in the room are still not bad. The detail is okay, and the noise doesn’t appear excessive. As long as it’s used in light conditions that aren’t too extreme, for a smartphone at that price, we have no significant complaints about the camera’s capabilities.

For video recording, the maximum resolution that can be achieved is 2K. The recording results are typical of a 2 million cell phone with a rather limited dynamic range. In addition, Infinix doesn’t seem to have equipped the Hot 20 5G camera with special stabilization capabilities, so the video isn’t smooth when recording while walking.

Fast performance

Infinix Hot 20 5G is armed with the MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chipset. Usually this chipset is used by cellphones that cost 3-4 million rupiahs. It looks tempting, but unfortunately the default RAM capacity is only 4 GB. Infinix outsmarts this by providing a RAM expansion feature of up to 3 GB, so that the total can reach 7 GB. For storage of 128 GB.

n various scenarios of daily use, the performance of the Hot 20 5G is practically smooth. Switching between applications feels nimble and minimal lag. With Dimensity 810, Infinix believes that its flagship product is able to provide a qualified gaming experience.

The result is as expected. Mobile Legends can be played smoothly at high graphics settings and the high refresh rate mode is active. Meanwhile, PUBG Mobile is engrossed in the Smooth-Ultra setting. Genshin Impact is still okay at Lowest-60fps, even though frame drops occasionally occur.

Infinix Hot 20 5G is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery, which can accompany our activities from morning to night. What you should pay attention to is the charging technology. Since it’s only 18W, it takes more than 2 hours to fully charge.

Conclusion

Of the many cellphones that flood the 2 million rupiah range, Infinix Hot 20 5G deserves to be called one of the most attractive in its class for those of you who are really looking for performance. Apart from being fast, this cellphone camera is also quite adequate, the screen is 120Hz, and NFC is supported.

If you want an affordable cellphone with complete features, consider the Infinix Hot 20 5G. In well-known e-commerce, this smartphone is sold on average at 2.3-2.4 million rupiah.
