Smart TVs with QLED panels are usually sold at quite expensive prices, especially for large screen sizes like 55 inches. If you are looking for a more pocket-friendly alternative, the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E could be a very tempting option.

But can Xiaomi provide a visual quality equivalent to QLED TVs at a low price at a low price? If you’re curious, just take a look at our review!

Pretty premium design

The Xiaomi TV Q1E 55 Inch has a display that can be considered quite premium. The body is thin with a slim, almost bezel-less screen. The bezel and stand are made of aluminum, with an elegant silver color making them suitable to add to the aesthetics of the room in a modern home.

Because of its wide size, you certainly have to prepare a long table if you don’t want to install it on the wall. Moreover, the Xiaomi TV Q1E has two legs (not a single-stand like the Xiaomi TV A2 ) which are located on the left and right ends. The length of this TV reaches 1.23 meters, so prepare a table that is longer than that.

The legs themselves feel very sturdy and are able to support the TV steadily. Naturally, because the material is metal. To install the two legs is actually quite easy and only requires a standard screwdriver. However, since this is a large and heavy TV (about 14 kilograms according to the Xiaomi website), you may need someone else’s help to support the TV while attaching the legs.

This TV only has one physical button which is located below the Xiaomi logo. On the back, you’ll find a plastic PCB cover with a row of ports facing either side or down. Yes, there is no rear-facing port which means you don’t have to worry about having trouble connecting cables when the TV is too close to the wall.

Speaking of ports, the Xiaomi TV Q1E 55 Inch has 3 HDMI ports (1 supports eARC), two USB 2.0, Composite In (AV), CI slot, Ethernet (LAN), antenna, optical digital audio output, and a 3.5mm jack. For wireless connection, there is support for Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi 2.4/5GHz.

For additional information, the review unit that came to Yangcangguh.com is still equipped with the same minimalist remote as the one used on the old Xiaomi TV or Mi TV Stick. In fact, according to the official website, the remote should be the same as the Xiaomi TV A2.

After confirming with Xiaomi Indonesia, it is certain that in the sales package of the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E you will get an old minimalist remote. We ourselves prefer the new remote model which, although it is bigger and has lots of buttons, feels more practical when accessing various things.

Great visuals with deep blacks

As mentioned above, the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E is a smart TV that carries a QLED panel. One thing that comes to mind when we hear the word QLED is a wide color gamut with deeper blacks. The resolution? It’s definitely 4K.

According to Xiaomi, the Q1E supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Its QLED panel enables display of up to 1.07 billion colours, 97 percent DCI-P3, and 100 percent NTSC. The contrast is better than a TV with a standard LED panel. Not to forget there is 60Hz MEMC support to make moving images look smoother.

As far as our testing goes, we have to admit that the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E is able to deliver sharp visuals with richer, more vibrant and natural colors. The image also looks brighter, especially when used to watch HDR content, and the saturation is just right. What we like the most is the dark black color that doesn’t look a bit gray.

With a price tag of 8 million, it might not be an exaggeration if we call the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E the TV with the best picture quality in its price class. Watching movies on Netflix, videos on YouTube, or just local TV broadcasts feels great. Perhaps a little noteworthy is the viewing angle, because we still notice a change in color and image quality when watching from a slightly sideways position or not from the center.

MEMC 60Hz

Just like other Xiaomi TVs, you can also tinker with the picture settings by selecting some of the built-in modes provided, or changing them manually. Our opinion regarding the MEMC 60Hz feature is still the same, which is not necessarily suitable for all content. For content with a frame rate of 24fps such as movies, we think this feature actually makes the movement less natural and eliminates the cinematic feel. If you also judge so, just turn off the feature from Settings.

Audio above average

We should give a plus point to the audio quality of the Xiaomi TV Q1E 55-inch internal speaker. In total there are 6 speakers with a maximum power of 15W each. This speaker has supported features such as Dolby Audio and DTS-HD.

Why should we give a plus? Because the sound produced sounds clear and powerful, above our expectations for an average TV below 10 million rupiah. The bass is quite kicking, and the sound of dialogue when watching movies also sounds clear.

In essence, if you don’t have the funds to buy a soundbar or other sound system, the built-in speakers from the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E are very adequate.

Still okay to play PS5

Yes, we know this is not a gaming class TV that has a 120Hz refresh rate. Even so, for playing games with the PlayStation 5 console, we think the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E is an option that you should consider. Just a personal opinion, games that can run up to 120fps on PS5 are also not too many. In fact, only a few can lock at native 4K 60fps. Others are 60fps with a slightly lowered resolution, or 4K 30fps with additional ray tracing.

So if you want to play AAA games, the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E along with other 4K 60Hz TVs is still quite adequate. The difference is that the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E uses QLED with a bright image display, good contrast and saturation, and darker black. We tried to play Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man Miles Morales, and the results were quite satisfactory. Absolutely no major complaints.

Android TV 10 and DVB-T2 broadcast support

The 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E is equipped with a MediaTek 9611 chipset with a Cortex-A55 quad-core CPU and Mali-G52 GPU. The RAM is 2GB and the internal storage is 32GB. This TV adopts the Android TV 10 operating system and Xiaomi’s signature interface, Patchwall.

Because it’s based on Android, of course you can download all the applications on the Google Play Store, including games. The performance is also fairly agile. No lag or lag issues when switching between apps or browsing settings.

Additional information, Q1E supports DVB-T2 digital broadcasting. This means that you can capture digital TV broadcasts without the need for an additional STB. The search process for both analog and digital TV broadcasts is very fast. In about 1 minute, this TV managed to catch dozens of broadcast channels from various local TV stations.

Conclusion

If you want a cheap QLED TV with a large screen size, the 55-inch Xiaomi TV Q1E might be the answer you are looking for. The visual quality is quite good in its price class, the audio is okay too. This TV is suitable for supporting various entertainment needs, from watching movies, YouTube, to playing console games.
