The 60% gaming keyboard is starting to be of great interest to gamers. Its more compact dimensions than a full size gaming keyboard is one of its advantages. However, not all gamers are compatible with this keyboard. It’s quite reasonable considering that 60% of the key layouts on the keyboard have been removed or combined with other keys to pursue a more compact dimension.

Razer also gave an answer to this problem. Through the Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed, Razer presents a gaming keyboard with a slightly larger size, which is 65%. Curious about how it performs, see the following reviews.

Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed Design

The Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed comes with a very minimalistic design without cables. So, to connect to this keyboard PC device relies on a wireless connection. Or, you can use a cable to rely on the USB-C port. This USB-C port can also be used to recharge the battery.

Wireless connectivity is supported by two options. Via Bluetooth or Razer Hyperspeed Wireless. The settings can be selected by sliding the on / off button on the top of the body.

Meanwhile, at the bottom can be found two support legs. The height of the legs can be adjusted to suit the comfort of each user. In addition, there is also a slot to store the Razer Hyperspeed Wireless receiver. Useful enough so you don’t lose it when you travel.

Overall the design of this keyboard is very solid with an aluminum body design. The dimensions are indeed slightly wider than the keyboard 60%. However, it is still quite compact and space-saving on the table.

So what’s the difference between a 60% keyboard and a 65% keyboard from Razer? The answer is in the layout. At first glance, the Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed does bring a keyboard layout that looks like a 60% keyboard. However, if you look closely at this keyboard, you can find the arrow keys. In 60% of keyboards the arrow keys are generally omitted.

Not only that, we also found buttons such as PageUp, PageDown, Del, and Ins, which are still available and neatly aligned in the far right area. Thus, even though the dimensions are more compact, this keyboard is still functional. These four buttons can also function as macro buttons.

The buttons carry Doubleshot ABS material. It is claimed that the letter prints on the buttons will not fade even if they are pressed very often. Meanwhile, the Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed mechanical switch comes with two switch options. Green Switch and Yellow Switch. For the model we are reviewing, we use the Razer Green Mechanical Switch.

Each button also features Razer Chroma RGB lighting. The color output and RGB lighting effects can be adjusted according to the tastes of each gamer. The lighting output can also be synchronized with all other Razer devices with the same Razer Chroma RGB features.

Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed Features

To set up the Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed, it supports the Razer Synapse 3 application. Through the application, gamers can access features and make settings to create this keyboard profile.

To make it easier to access the features and settings of the Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed, it is also possible for gamers to do so without the need to go through the application. This is an added value because all access settings can be done by pressing the combination button directly on the keyboard.

For example, to access the RGB Chroma Effect light settings. To disable it, you can press the FN + Ctrl + 1 key. Meanwhile, changing the lighting output effect can be by pressing the FN+Ctrl+2 to 7. The backlit lighting can also be adjusted directly by pressing the FN+G or FN+H keys.

Then, for Macro button settings. Gamers can directly record the Macro button by first pressing the FN + Y button. There is also a Gaming mode that can be accessed via the FN + U button. In this gaming mode, the Windows, Alt+Tab and Alt+F4 keys will automatically be disabled. So, it’s safe if you don’t accidentally get depressed while playing games.

Likewise for other settings. For example, setting up a Bluetooth connection, adjusting the volume, media control buttons and sleep, all the features of the Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed can be directly accessed via the FN key combination.

Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed Performance

Bringing the two Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed wireless connectivity options we tested via Bluetooth connection and Razer Hyperspeed Wireless.

From our tests, each of these connectivity has its advantages and disadvantages. First through Razer Hyperspeed Wireless. In our opinion, this connectivity is more optimal for gaming. The reason is, through a 2.4Ghz wireless connection, the latency is noticeably lower. So, when playing games the keyboard feels more responsive, almost without lag or delay.

Razer Hyperspeed Wireless connection also supports multiple devices. This means that gamers can connect other devices such as a Razer gaming mouse that supports the same features using only one Razer Hyperspeed Wireless receiver dongle. The mice it supports include the Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro, Naga Pro and Orochi V2.

Then, for the Bluetooth connection. Bluetooth connection can still be relied upon to play games. Although not as comfortable as a wireless connection. This Bluetooth connection is more ideal for multi-device use.

Through Bluetooth connectivity, the Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed can be connected directly to up to three devices at the same time. For pairing to each device is also very easy. Gamers only need to press the ALT+FN+1, 2 or 3 keys for 5 seconds. To switch directly to each device, you can press the ALT+FN+1, 2 or 3 keys.

Then how about the performance? Carrying a mechanical Razer Green switch, all the buttons are very comfortable to press. This switch character is very soft and clicky (a bit noisy). For those who are quieter, you can choose the option with the Yellow Switch which is equipped with a silencer. For non-gaming use, this keyboard is also comfortable to use for typing. It can be relied on to type fast with precision and does not make your hands sore for long periods of use.

The battery life is also long lasting. According to Razer, for a single recharge, gamers can use it for up to about 200 hours. So, no need to bother to recharge the battery.

Conclusion

The Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed is the answer for gamers who are looking for a compact yet functional mechanical gaming keyboard. The design is also very solid and brings features that are quite complete. In addition, the available connectivity options make this keyboard adaptable to the needs of each gamer. With a selling price in the range of 2.799 million, this keyboard is not cheap and is classified as premium. Even so, if you don’t mind the selling price, the Razer Blackwidows V3 Mini Hyperspeed is still a must consider for gamers who are looking for a compact mechanical gaming keyboard.

The Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed is suitable for:

Gamers: Bringing the Razer Green mechanical switches and the Razer Hyperspeed keyboard connection is very comfortable to use for gaming.
Content creators: Supported Bluetooth connection that can connect to multiple devices making it ideal for content creators who work using more than one PC or laptop.
Users who want to switch to the Mechanical 60% keyboard : The 60% Mechanical keyboard is compact, but there are a lot of compromised keys. If you’re not familiar with the 60% size, this 65% keyboard layout brings functions similar to a standard keyboard with compact dimensions and space-saving.

The advantages of the Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed:

+ Solid design
+ Very comfortable to use
+ Complete features
+ Connectivity options can be Bluetooth or Razer Hyperspeed
+ Can connect up to three devices via Bluetooth
+ Long battery life
+ Access settings can be directly on the keyboard
+ Equipped with arrow keys

Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed Disadvantages:

– The weight is a bit heavy
– Not yet supported by the fast refill feature
