Review Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3

Sennheiser’s latest TWS relies on audiophile sound quality, noise canceling and 20 hours of battery life

High-end sound quality

The deep and controlled bass performance was the first surprise when I tried it. While watching the movie Jurassic Park, the pounding of the approaching T-Rex was felt and reassuring. Likewise when playing the song Another One Bites The Dust from Queen. The bass boom at the beginning of the song sounds clear and feels right.

Turning to the music, we were treated to a fairly wide soundstage where Chopin and Mozart’s classical music took place in the theatre. The tinkling of the piano can be heard with the right dimensions, as well as the sound of the violin sounding melodious and penetrating to the ear.

When playing songs with dominant vocals such as Bianca Wu or Joanna Wang, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 is also able to present it with clear articulation. Treble reproduction feels a little muted or seems dark so it doesn’t tire the ears quickly.

For a snug fit, this TWS features 4 tips and 3 ear hooks in various sizes. If worn correctly, TWS will be safe in the ear even when the user is quite active. From testing, comfort is quite good when used. When trying to listen to music for up to 45 minutes without stopping, this TWS feels comfortable on the ears.

For those who often use TWS to make calls, this TWS noise canceling is quite effective at reducing noise. You can also control it via touch on the right or left earbud. This control system is quite complicated considering that one, two, three or four taps will execute different functions. In total there are 8 functions that can be accessed in this way, considering that the same tap on the right earbud will have a different function with the left earbud. But the advantage is, you don’t have to reach for your smartphone just to access a function.

Smart Control App

Even if you don’t use it with a smartphone, it’s still recommended that you install the Smart Control app from Sennheiser. The reason is that there are several Momentum True Wireless 3 features that can only be activated from this application. For example, firmware updates, noise cancellation settings, and touch control settings.

You can also select, set and save EQ (equalizer) presets in this application. Although it can be adjusted, the EQ settings in this application are oversimplified by only listing bass, mid, treble and options to increase bass and vocals for podcasts. There is no option to adjust the sound frequency, but this is intentional considering this product is also intended for ordinary users.

An interesting feature that can only be accessed through the application is the Sound Zone. So you can set the EQ and ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) settings to match your location. For example, when you come home from work, the Sound Zone will adjust to the predetermined settings. On the other hand, when you arrive at the office, the settings will be adjusted automatically.

Connectivity and Battery

TWS connectivity is also quite reliable. There’s the latest aptX Adaptive support which can switch to low latency when needed and keep the Bluetooth connection smooth. From testing, the optimal Bluetooth connection distance for this TWS is at a distance of 2 meters.

Battery life is also commendable. We were able to use it to listen to music continuously for up to about 5 hours. The storage case turns out to be able to fully charge the battery 3 times. This means the total battery can last more than 20 hours. In addition to charging the case with a USB-C cable, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 also supports Qi-standard wireless charging. For charging the battery, it takes 1.5 hours to fully charge it. If you’re in a hurry, you can charge it for about 10 minutes and this TWS can be used to listen to music for up to 1 hour.

New alternative to premium class TWS

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 is present as a strong competitor to Apple AirPods Pro  and Sony WF1000 Mk4 which is included in the premium class. The advantages of TWS from Sennheiser lie in sound quality and battery life. For fans of Sennheiser’s signature sound, they will immediately be lulled by the signature sound of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3.

Battery life is also commendable. More than enough for users who often make calls or must be accompanied by music in their daily lives. So if price isn’t an issue, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 is worth considering.

Who is suitable to use Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 ?

Professional workers and business people

The noise cancellation feature and long battery life make it reliable for business people and workers who make frequent calls in one day. The sound quality is also clear so that it will make communication smoother.

Movie fans

The existence of a Bluetooth 5.2 connection with aptX Adaptive support makes it agile enough to minimize lag when playing movies. This will also be beneficial for gamers.

Music fans and audiophiles

Sound quality will be the main thing that makes music fans fall in love with the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3. Coupled with the noise cancellation feature , you will be able to escape for a moment from the noise of the world while listening to music with this TWS.
