Following the success of the Sigma fp which was launched in 2019, Sigma has now announced the fp L. This latest mirrorless camera still inherits the title of the mirrorless camera with the world’s most compact full frame sensor.

Specifications of Sigma fp L

At first glance there are no design updates brought by fp L. The design looks identical to the Sigma fp. However, if you look closely at the dimensions of the L fp body, it is designed to be more concise.

Body dimensions fp L 112.6 x 69.9 x 45.3 mm. Smaller than the Sigma fp, whose body dimensions are 113 x 70 x 45 mm. Meanwhile, the weight of fp L is slightly heavier at 427 grams. Sigma fp weighs only 370 grams. This is understandable considering the fp L brings a significant increase in specifications and additional features.

In the specification sector, the Sigma fp L now carries a BSI-CMOS sensor with a resolution of 61 megapixels. Replaces the 24.2 megapixel sensor on the Sigma fp. With a 61 megapixel full frame sensor making it quite competitive with the Sony a7R IV. This camera can also be relied on to record high-resolution videos at 4K 30p resolution and Full HD at 120p. fp L also supports 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit MOV H.264 and CinemaDNG formats directly to the camera.

The most interesting feature of fp L is the Crop Zoom feature. Utilizing the 61 megapixel sensor, fp L can zoom in photo or video mode. In video mode, the zoom capability can be up to a maximum of 5x in Full HD resolution. The way Crop Zoom works is also very interesting. According to Sigma, this feature does not rely on digital zoom, but is purely cropped directly from the image. That way the image quality is guaranteed not to decrease in quality.

Other features in fp L are now supported by a hybrid autofocus system with faster and more precise subject tracking capabilities in photo and video modes. This camera can also be used as a webcam for video conferencing or live broadcasts.

In addition, Sigma also provides electronic viewfinder accessories that can be attached to the side of the body via USB and HDMI ports. This electronic viewfinder is equipped with a socket for attaching headphones.

Price of Sigma fp L

The Sigma fp L will be available in the market mid-April 2021. The price of the Sigma fp L is US $ 2499 for the body only and US $ 2999 for a package with its electronic viewfinder accessories.
