Sony announced the presence of the WH-1000XM5 headphones . The successor to the Sony WH-1000XM4 continues to champion the active noise cancellation feature by bringing updates in its design and features.

Fitur Sony WH-1000XM5

Sony WH-1000XM5 comes with a more cylindrical ear cup design. The headband has also been updated with a thinner design and a quieter hinge. The new ear cups can also be turned sideways. However, it can’t be folded in to make it more compact. To make it easier to store and carry these headphones on the go, Sony has equipped them with a larger protective case.

For sound reproduction, the Sony WH-1000XM5 relies on a 30mm driver. The size of the driver is smaller than the Sony WH-1000XM4 which measures 40mm. However, even though it is smaller, the sound response of this driver is better at high frequencies for a more natural sound output.

Targeting the premium segment, the Sony WH-1000XM5 also supports high-resolution audio. These headphones support SBC, AAC, and LDAC audio codecs. Meanwhile, for connectivity, it relies on a Bluetooth 5.2 connection with support for fast pairing features from Android and Windows.

In addition the Sony WH-1000XM5 features 8 integrated microphones and two processors. The two processors include the V1 processor and the HD Noise Canceling QN1 processor. Sony claims, thanks to the microphone and processor, the active noise canceling feature or ANC (Active Noise Canceling) is better at high and middle frequencies when compared to the Sony WH-1000XM4. The ability to counteract the noise is also supported by the Auto NC Optimizer feature. This feature allows automatic ANC capabilities to be optimized based on the surrounding conditions and environment.

For battery life, the Sony WH-1000XM5 can be used for up to about 30 hours with the ANC feature turned on. If the ANC is turned off the battery can last up to 40 hours. It also supports fast recharge feature. Only with a recharge time of 3 minutes the battery can be used up to 3 hours.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 features in these headphones, there is an ambient noise mode, supports gesture control, a speak to chat feature, supports Google or Alexa virtual assistants and Quick Access for quick access to the Spotify application.

Sony WH-1000XM5 price

The Sony WH-1000XM5 is available in black and silver. Price of Sony WH-1000XM5 US$400. It’s about US$50 more expensive than the Sony WH-1000XM4.
