Synology announced the NAS (Network Attached Storage) DS1522+ . This latest NAS offers compact dimensions and can accommodate up to five drives for storage space.
Features of Synology DS1522+
The Synology DS1522+ comes with dimensions of 166 mm x 230 mm x 223 mm. It weighs about 2.7 kg. Its compact dimensions make this NAS ideal for home or small office needs.
For the drives it supports, the Synology DS1522+ is compatible with 3.5-inch SATA hard drives and 2.5-inch SATA SSDs. In addition, there are two additional slots for an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD.
If less users are also possible to use the Synology DX517 expansion system. With the addition of the Synology DX517 users are allowed to use up to 15 drives. Another convenience offered by this NAS is the ability to upgrade connectivity using the E10G22-T1 Mini Network module that supports speeds up to 10GbE.
Like other Synology NAS, the DS1522+ also brings an integrated CPU system. The processor used is AMD Ryzen R1600 which is supported by 8GB RAM. The RAM sector can also be increased up to 32GB via the two available RAM slots.
The DS1522+ will also run the latest DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, version 7.1. According to Synology, this version offers improvements in data management that is compatible with various PC and smartphone operating systems, better file sharing capabilities, collaboration, and can support video management systems for compatible surveillance cameras.
