Synology has launched yet another compact NAS for home and SMB businesses. The newest product is the DS923+ which can accommodate a very large capacity of storage space through four drive slots.
Features of the Synology DS923+
Compared to the DS1522+ which was launched last July, the DS923+ has more compact dimensions. This is because the DS923+ only has four drive slots. Meanwhile, the DS1522+ provides five drive slots for storage space.

According to Synology, through the four drive slots it carries, the DS923+ can provide up to 54TB of storage space. However, if it is lacking with the addition of the DX517 expansion unit, it is possible for users to get up to 126TB of storage space with an additional 9 drive slots.

The DS923+ offers performance with sequential read speeds of up to 592MB/s and 562MB/s sequential write speeds. To boost performance, it is possible for users to upgrade connectivity to a 10GbE network using the E10G22-T1 Mini Network module . Users can also add M.2 NVMe SSDs via the available PCIe slots to accommodate faster caches and create flash pools. So, very flexible and can be adjusted according to needs.

DS923+ comes with CPU specifications similar to DS1522+. The processor used is AMD Ryzen R1600. The difference is, the RAM it carries is smaller, only 4GB. The DS1522+ is supported by 8GB of RAM. Fortunately, the RAM sector can still be increased up to 32GB via the two available RAM slots. For the operating system, the DS923+ runs the DiskStation Manager operating system which is compatible with various PC and smartphone operating systems.
