The advantages and disadvantages of the Xiaomi Redmi 9T

Xiaomi presents the Redmi 9T as their latest hero to heat up competition in the entry-level segment. Carrying tantalizing specifications and above the average of its competitors, we think the Redmi 9T is one of the most attractive options for those of you who want a quality cheap cellphone.

Well, if you are already planning to propose to Redmi 9T in the near future, it is better if you understand further what the advantages and disadvantages of this smartphone are. Come on, just take a look!

The advantages of Redmi 9T

1. Okay design, light weight, and not easy to get dirty

Xiaomi Redmi 9T comes in three color choices, Carbon Gray, Twilight Blue and Ocean Green. The texture on the back cover is made a bit rough so it feels solid when held and is fingerprint-free. I was a little surprised because it turned out that it was still light even though the battery was jumbo.

2. Smooth performance, great for gaming

Armed with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset, Redmi 9T automatically becomes one of the fastest performing cellphones in its class. You can also choose between two memory variants, namely 4/64 GB or 6/128 GB. With a combination like this, Redmi 9T is capable enough to carry out daily tasks. Switching between applications is smooth and responsive. There are no significant obstacles in playing games, except for super heavy games like Genshin Impact.

3. Full HD + and Widevine L1 screens

Redmi 9T relies on a 6.53-inch IPS panel with Full HD + resolution complete with minimalist Dot Drop-style bangs. It should be appreciated that several competing cellphones in the same price class still rely on HD + screens only. What’s more, Redmi 9T already has Widevine L1 certification so that it can play Netflix content up to high resolution.

4. Dual-Speakers

Redmi 9T is equipped with dual-speakers capable of producing stereo sound. Fun enough to accompany playing games or watching movies.

5. Jumbo battery and 22.5W charger

The battery is also a thumbs-up. The 6,000 mAh capacity and 18W fast charging support are quite satisfying. Great durability for a full day of use. Meanwhile, it takes about 2 hours to charge it to be 100 percent full.

Interestingly, Xiaomi immediately provides a 22.5W charger in the Redmi 9T sales package. Indeed, the maximum capacity of the cellphone itself is only up to 18W. But by having a 22.5W charger, Xiaomi hopes that users can use it to charge other devices too.

6. The camera is good enough as long as the light is ideal

The Xiaomi Redmi 9T has a 48 MP main camera, 2 MP macro camera, 2 MP depth camera, and another extra camera with a 120 degree 8 megapixel wide-angle lens which is also a differentiator from the POCO M3. For selfies, Xiaomi has re-immersed an 8 megapixel sensor.

When the lighting is ideal, the captured image looks sharp and the color reproduction is good in its class. This camera is also supported by Pro mode. Not only for photos, you can use Pro mode to record videos. So you can manually adjust which lens you want to use, what is the ISO, exposure, focus, shutter speed, and white balance as needed.

7. Side-fingerprint sensor

Yes, the Redmi 9T has a fingerprint sensor which is quite responsive, and its position is on the side of the alias as one with the power button.

Disadvantages of Redmi 9T

1. The results of the ultra-wide camera photos should be improved again

Unlike the main camera, the photos using an ultra-wide camera are not satisfactory. Details have decreased considerably and in terms of color it is not okay. Especially if you use an ultra-wide camera to take pictures at night even with Night Mode.

2. The front camera is not good for video

The dynamic range on the front camera is not good. Those of you who like to make vlogging videos may be a little less satisfied with the results, especially when you are in a location with a strong backlight.

3. It would be more interesting if there was stabilization

Maybe it’s a bit excessive if we want this smartphone to have a stabilization feature on the camera. But there’s no harm in hoping. It could be that in the future Xiaomi will present EIS on entry-level class phones.
