The Samsung Galaxy S23 Series was introduced at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked which was held on February 1, 2023, or slightly earlier than the introduction of the S22 Series which was held last year.
There are two changes brought by the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, namely the use of the Samsung ISOCELL HP2 image sensor with a resolution of 200 megapixels which we have discussed in this article and a brighter main camera lens with an aperture of f/1.7. Another change is in the front camera which now has a resolution of 12 megapixels.

Given the limited time, we immediately tried to take pictures with all the cameras. For resolution, we chose 12 megapixels. The reason is, this is the best image setting with 16 pixels converging into one pixel. Once again, megapixels are not an indicator of the quality of a camera’s photos, including smartphone cameras. Megapixel is the size of the image a camera can produce. The quality of the photos is also determined by the quality of the image sensor, lens quality, and the user’s photographing technique.
One positive thing that is immediately obvious when shooting with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the quality of the photos at the ultra-wide setting and 3x and 10x zoom which are better than the S22 Ultra. Besides being able to display better details, the sharpness has also increased. As seen in the following photo results.

In the explanation by the Samsung Indonesia team it was said that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Series uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) to improve the quality of the photos according to the conditions during the shooting. From the example photo above, the skin tone or skin color of the model looks natural and not refined to the point of looking odd. This is one role of AI which can recognize the subject and apply the appropriate image optimization.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra also returns to relying on 100x zoom which is slightly better than the previous type, although it’s still only comfortable to look at on a cellphone screen. The following is an example of the results of the photo in all zoom settings.
