Nvidia’s lineup of entry-level laptop graphics cards has been updated. There are three models announced, namely the Nvidia GeForce MX550, MX570 and RTX 2050.

Nvidia GeForce MX570 and MX550

The Nvidia GeForce MX-Series is a line of graphics cards that are powerful enough to replace the integrated graphics cards on Intel or AMD processors. This line of graphics cards can generally be found in entry-to-middle class laptops. Or, on a laptop with a thin and light design.

The Nvidia GeForce MX-Series does not carry ray tracing technology like the RTX-Series. However, this year Nvidia has slightly improved its performance compared to its older generation.

According to Nvidia, the GeForce MX550 now comes with more CUDA Cores and faster memory. Meanwhile, the MX570 is updated with a more power efficient CUDA Core and faster memory. This makes it even more ideal for content creation and gaming when compared to the previous generation.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050

It is undeniable that the most interesting among these three latest graphics cards is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series has indeed been the prima donna this year. However, the presence of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 opens up opportunities for gamers or content creators with a minimal budget to enjoy Ray Tracing technology that is the mainstay of the Nvidia GeForce RTX-Series graphics card.

Even though it’s included in the RTX 20-series line, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 comes with the Ampere architecture used in the RTX 30-series. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 carries the same number of CUDA Cores as the cheapest RTX 30-series graphics card, the RTX 3050. The difference is that the RTX 2050 has a lower TDP, clock speed and memory bus bandwidth than the RTX 3050.

In short, the RTX 2050 is an Nvidia GeForce graphics card with the Ampere architecture, which has the lowest performance among other Nvidia RTX graphics cards. That way it can’t be used as a GPU choice for hardcore gamers.

However, the RTX 2050 will still be faster than the Nvidia GeForce MX570. This makes it very useful for computing needs that prioritize graphics such as photo and video editing.

Seeing the trend for creation and gaming content that is still not empty of enthusiasts, we predict that the RTX 2050 in 2022 will appear on laptops for middle-class content creation and entry-class gaming laptops.
