The close friends feature has been available on the Instagram service for a long time. Some of us have even used it to play social media more comfortably.

Instagram is indeed a social media that exists as a place to interact with other people through photos and videos. For some people, Instagram can be quite useful because they can upload special moments to important information to their friends.

It’s just undeniable, of course there are some content that should not be public consumption. Videos and images containing personal information must remain confidential with more restricted settings if they are to be shared.

In addition to bringing features that can make accounts private , Instagram also continues to develop special features so that it can be done, one of which is by launching close friends support for the Story service in 2018.

Close friends on Instagram apply according to its meaning, namely close friends. This feature allows us to upload sensitive photos and videos into Stories so that only certain people can consume them.

What is the Close Friends Feature on Instagram?

Simply put, close friends is a feature that can be used to create a list of close friends from followers. We can later set personal stories specifically for accounts that are included in the close friends group.

Keep in mind that each added account will still know that they are included in the close friends list even though there is no special notification. When we upload Instagram Stories specifically for them, the appearance that looks will be different from usual.

Stories that are shared for the close friends list will be seen with other ring colors. If it’s usually a gradient from purple, red, to yellow that is typical of Instagram, then we will specifically find green for that content.

But don’t worry, every account from the close friends list will not know each other. Only we ourselves can know who’s in it and people can’t ask to be added.

The list of close friends itself can be changed according to needs. We can add or remove accounts at any time according to what we want through the settings in the Instagram application.

How to Use the Close Friends Feature on Instagram

Adding and Removing Friends List

  • Log in to the Instagram app
  • Go to the private profile tab by tapping on the photo in the lower right corner
  • Tap the Menu button (hamburger icon) in the top right corner
  • Select menu Close friends
  • Find the name of the account to add or remove
  • Use the search feature if needed
  • Click the Add button to add the account to the list
  • Click the Remove button to remove the account from the close friends list

Accounts added or removed from the close friends list will not get special notifications. Therefore, you can still be more flexible to create personal stories and share them with them.

Create a Personal Story for Close Friends

  • Log in to the Instagram app
  • Open the Story creation menu by swiping the screen to the right
  • Create or upload content you want to share
  • Edit by adding stickers or text
  • Tap the Close friends button (green star icon)

In contrast to activating the private account option, the close friends feature allows us to separate stories that are private and public. We can use it according to our needs and the type of upload we want.
