Xiaomi spreads its wings into the world of robotics. This first robot is named Xiaomi CyberDog. Indeed, this is not the first robot dog. Previously there had been Sony’s Aibo and Boston Dynamic’s Spot. One thing that is interesting about CyberDog is the selling price. The selling price is the cheapest among the two robot dogs.

Features of Xiaomi CyberDog

CyberDog’s appearance is very futuristic. On the head is mounted an Intel RealSense D450 camera. This camera can measure depth. This sophisticated dog is also equipped with a camera complete with an ultrawide fish eye lens, six pairs of microphones and a series of sensors. Sensors it carries include ultrasonic sensors, GPS and touch sensors.

CyberDog is also very smart. This dog robot is powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX chipset which is capable of supporting Deep Learning technology. For storage space, there is an SSD with a capacity of 128GB.

Thanks to the sensors and cameras it carries, this robot is able to automatically track objects and map the environment around them. In fact, it can avoid obstacles in front of it and walk according to a predetermined destination point. With the support of facial recognition technology, this dog can also recognize the user’s face and follow where the user is walking.

To move the CyberDog’s legs are supported by servo motors. The motor has a maximum torque of 32 Nm and can rotate at a speed of 220 rpm. This means, CyberDog can move up to a maximum speed of 3.2 meters per second or about 7 mph. In addition to running, other Xiaomi CyberDog features can support various movements such as rolling to jumping backwards. The design is also sturdy and can support weights up to 3 Kg.

Interestingly CyberDog supports open platforms. This means, developers or users in the robotics community can freely develop CyberDog.

Xiaomi CyberDog Price

For starters, Xiaomi is selling a limited number of CyberDogs. There are only 1000 units available. The price of the Xiaomi CyberDog is US $ 1600
